Yeah, ultimately it doesn’t matter if you’re rooting for or against.. it won’t change the outcome.

But why would you want that to happen?

You’re pissed that LSU is currently matched up with Clemson, but you’re rooting for an LSU / Ohio State round 1 matchup?

I want LSU to play in Atlanta regardless of the opponent.

What game are you watching? Fields has thrown for almost 150 yds a few minutes into the 2nd quarter.

The system is a sham

Nothing was wrong with the criteria used by the
BCS:

1/3 strength of schedule
1/3 computer
1/3 human

Why try to reinvent the wheel??

It reminds me of real estate. Most important thing about a property -
Location, location, location. A guy buys a 1 acre lot $ 800.00
Sounds like a steal, until you see that its located out in bum frick Egypt, in the middle of a swamp and the entire acre is wetlands and you're not allowed to build on it.

Same with football. Strength of schedule should be equally as important as your fecord. Who cares if you are undefeated, if you didnt fricking play anybody.

How would this work?

You get ranked #1 for playing the hardest schedule?

What if whisky does the unthinkable and boat races them? It won’t happen, but if OSU were to lose by 2-3 TDs, they could easily miss out.

Not sure if you are serious...
It was only 5 years ago.

Here is a closer look at how the math that produces the BCS rating works. There are four components that contribute to a team's rank.

Subjective polla
Computer rankings
Strength of a team's schedule
Number of Losses

Each of these factors is represented by a numerical value. Teams are assigned a certain number of points for their performance in each category. These four values are then totaled to produce a team's final score. The team with the lowest point total gets the number one spot for the week.

This link gives a detailed look into the 4 factors

Beating 3 straight Top 5 teams would be really tough

And unfair, IMO

I would prefer LSU be #1 like they deserve and Ohio St and Clemson to play each other.

We earned it.

Also, yes I would rather play Ohio St over Clemson.

Maybe when the BCS first started in the early 2000s but not the way the most recent evaluations were done.

The formula is:

(Harris Poll % + Coaches’ Poll % + Computer Poll %)/3 = BCS Ranking

I *think* for the computer poll it was 5 computer polls, highest and lowest for each team dropped then the other 3 averaged.

I liked that system.

You've got 5 computer polls and like 120ish voters between Coaches and AP poll.

And what did they do? Scrap that for 13 people. Talk about consolidating power... It's much easier for frickery to occur with 13 people compared to the BCS formula. And honestly, I think that's why they did it...

Since the start of the CFP committee which teams have been left out of the playoffs, that would have been in if the BCS remained in place?

Seriously. The best football team has won the National Championship every single year of the playoffs. Mulligans or no. The committee has put the best four teams in each year.

The BCS aggregates the standings of each of the six computer polls and awards teams 25 points for a first-place standing on a computer poll, 24 for a second, 23 for a third, and so on, just as in the human element, until one point is given for a 25th-place vote.
The BCS takes the six point values and removes the lowest and highest point values given to a specific team. Four point values are left, which the BCS adds together.
Because a perfect score would mean receiving four first-place votes, or four 25 point values, the BCS divides the team’s four computer ranking point values by 100 to arrive at the composite computer ranking value.

They could do the CFP and the computers. I think the least they would need to do is delay the AP/Coaches poll until later in the year.
