So year 10 for Nikki we are 0-2 and facing a solid UCF team tonight. Been blown out twice and while SEC is way down we are still at best 7th best. After Tennis coaches, have to think Scott fixes this next, right? I know it's early but this is year 10, have not been past first round of NCAA since year 2, we were a top 5 program, and now Miss St is one, let's get back there, should not be that hard. Right?
Finally Pokey is NOT ever sniffing college again, she is taboo for what she did (if you do not buy this, why after winning 90% at LSU has no college hired her anywhere in the past 12 years???) Also she has losing record in WNBA...so there is that, and Kramer's Mom is NOT coming here, she has a GREAT team at Baylor and does not have enough coaching year left to start again, nor does she want to.

and if you do not care about WBB fine, but we HAVE to have a program, it mine as well be good.

There is literally no reason to keep her. Her best success was with Vans players she inherited. Her teams are either not making the NCAAT or getting bounced from the 1st round. She can’t recruit and the offense is stale.

Kim would be here if SW would open up the vault and pay her what she wants.

It's all about $$$$$$.

Do you want SEC and NC's in Women's Basketball? She can do it here, just like she's done everywhere else.

Just DO IT! (Will and Kim doubleheaders)

She should have been fired after year 5.

Why should we care about the
Winnipeg Blue Bombers?

They’ve got any ex-LSU players?

I usually catch a few games each year to support team and always nice to sit in pmac and have a Dr Pepper...also men players often drop by...fun to see them just hanging out..

I support the team but coach makes way way to much money for the results..she needs to deliver results (which she has had time to do) agree to a massive pay cut or get a new coach...i understand why we went after her and pay...but did not work out...past time to move on...

It depends at what cost? From a pure business perspective the salaries for women's basketball coaches are an unbelievably poor investment. LSU pays Caldwell $700k. The program brings in roughly $300k - $375k in total revenue. It literally does not bring in enough revenue to cover the HC's salary, let alone the millions in additional expenses.

For instance, in the 17-18 school year WBB was FAR AND AWAY the biggest money pit at LSU. Operating $4.2 million in the RED). That was almost double any other non-profit producing sport on campus. And that wouldn't change significantly even if LSU was great. Louisville women's basketball made it to the Final Four a few years back and STILL lost nearly $4.0 million. More than any other sport on campus. In fact, even with that run they couldn't generate enough revenue to cover the HC's salary.

That's not being sexist. Just realistic. There is no profitable market for women's college basketball. So the fact that LSU would pay a HC $300k - $400k MORE than the total amount of money the program generates is crazy!

So no, just because we have a program doesn't mean we should be good if doing so causes an even deeper and completely unnecessary hole in the athletic budget. Women's basketball is essentially a charity that doesn't warrant wasting money to hire the best coach in the country.

If you watch (and care) about LSU WBB, you should be ashamed of yourself.

sure, but if $300K more gets us championships then relatively it’s a small price “more” for a better product, since it’s going to be a loser either way and cutting the team isn’t an option

You’re 100% right on that. The only reason the WNBA is still around is because the NBA throws money into it to keep it alive.
