I'm pretty sure LSU completed a big light upgrade project right before these LED shows became popular. It's just not high on the priority list yet, since so much was just invested.

Picture this:

Just before the start of the 4th quarter, the entire stadium goes dark. A hush falls over the stadium - did we just lose power? Then...the drum cadence starts, purple LED's flashing with them, smartphone flash apps going. In time with those glorious first 4 notes, fireworks go off from the upper deck, LED's double in intensity. (Epileptics be warned) The lights finally come on full blast as the band gets into the fast portion of the song, with 102k people screaming "L-S-U L-S-U..."

Close game or down 38-0, I'm screaming like a 10-year old for that.
