I don’t know why everyone is so upset about our defense in baseball.

They have only made 26 errors in 12 games. The team fielding percentage is .940.
A 94% on a test is an A- . That’s not so bad is it?

I agree. I'm more upset that we're getting an F in hitting and have never in the history of the program gotten even close to a D in that area.

How are we getting an F in hitting? Bc we struggled against the best staff in the country in early March?

People have every right to be concerned with the number of errors. It's costing us games, and if it doesn't get fixed it will cost us a bunch more in SEC play.

I think you missed his sarcasm/joke.

See, what I did was highlight the absurdity of his comment equating the academic grading scale to fielding percentage by making an even more absurd equivalence.

Yeah Besides, the fielding average is better than the batting average.

It's really just a couple plays away from being at least respectable. The problem is that many of the errors are coming up the middle and almost all of them are coming around to score...and some things not ruled as "errors" have been just as costly.

I’d rather have a lot of errors than a lot of players who can’t hit

Yeah that’s only last in the SEC and 279th out of 293 D1 teams

Yep. When you factor in Berry's non errors in RF, you are talking 7ish plays against Baylor alone that should have been outs that weren't. You can't win games that way.
Now let's factor in that starting pitching isn't a strong suit of this team, and it makes those mistakes even more magnified.

Great point. When are pitchers are struggling, which is more often than not, the errors are magnified. Berry is clueless in right. I don't think I've ever seen a Tiger team so prone to errors. Let's hope they can get better at fielding routine plays or no post season as it stands.

Team hitting stats of 293 teams:
BA .319 23rd NCAA 3rd SEC
OBP .453 7th NCAA 2nd SEC
BB 73 11th NCAA 3rd SEC
2B/G 2.42 37th NCAA 4th SEC
HR/G 1.42 31st NCAA 4th SEC
PPG 10.1 12th NCAA 2nd SEC
SLG .536 20th NCAA 2nd SEC
Not sure how anyone gets an F out of that

We are using the school grading system to judge baseball stats now. Read the OP.

I see a lot of pissed people talking about berry. I wasn’t able to catch the games, is he a hot mess in r field? Confused cause this kid is hyped like next super star. What position is he best at? DH?

Averaging 2+ errors a game is unacceptable.

One of our Gorilla Ball teams won a national championship with an awful fielding percentage. I don't recall which year, but we had well over 100 errors for the season.
EDIT: 1993 team had 125 errors. They weren't exactly Gorilla Ball, but they had Walker, Johnson, Williams, Neal, etc. Those guys themselves combined for 67 errors. Johnson himself had 24. Good thing they could hit
