He let him run it for 4 games and it looked like shite. It looked like shite the entire year. It was way too gimmicky for the sake of being gimmicky. There's a reason no other coach in the country tries a 6 person pre-snap shift every other play.

With Jacoby Brissette as QB they finished 78th in the country in passing that year
Canada's offense runs the ball about two-thirds of the time, so maybe that had something to do with it.

You can stick your head in the sand as deep as you want, but the disappointing loses and failures of 2017 can be directly tied to O decisions.
They can be tied to missing two FG's in each the Troy and ND games.
One can also be tied to this. If you think this is Eaux's fault you are a moron.
TD given up by LSU

Those failures by O are going to be hung around his neck
By idiots like you who are still crying about Canada months after he has been gone.

You can pretend everything has changed for the better all you want, but until he proves it on the field its unproven conjecture on your part.
I am not pretending anything. I am just stating what changes have been made and why they should make LSU better. As far as conjecture - that was your whole post that I first replied to. Now that is conjecture - LSU won't be good because he hired Canada, LSU won't be good because they lost games last year, etc etc etc. stupid to think that I am the one using baseless conjecture to make a point.

2017 is fact. Learn to live with it for at lease a few more days.
it's a fact that it has absolutely-fricking-nothing to do with the 2018 season.

So, if this quip from the 2016 season wasn't in his bio do you honestly think he still get nominated?
Canada was instrumental in Pitt achieving the biggest road win in college football this season, the Panthers' 43-42 upset of then-No. 2 Clemson. The Tigers entered the contest surrendering less than 16 points per game. Pitt piled up 464 yards (308 passing and 156 rushing), while quarterback Nathan Peterman threw five touchdowns against a defense that had given up only five TD passes the entire season.

Wisconsin isn't a big time program?
For 1 year.

He can only thank Ponamsky for getting Canada's name off of the fricking rant 2 years ago. It was such a stupid hire.
This guy says differently:
"Last year, when hiring Lane Kiffin fell through, Alleva and other powerbrokers made it clear to Orgeron that they expected another big name. Enter the Matt Canada fiasco — and that’s not a bad word to use. Basically, once the work became serious, Canada became a problem for virtually everybody in the LSU Ops Building to work with. Dave Aranda, in particular, very much wanted him gone."
LSU and Steve Ensminger: How Did We Get Here?
Posted on 8/28/18 at 1:12 pm to RogerTheShrubber
He also high 42 points an a top 10 Penn State and had huge numbers with middling talent.
We just couldn’t get it together enough to run his offense.
And yeah, it’s not hard to say his reputation was damaged leaving LSU, but he got a P5 job.
He was a good OC we just couldn’t run his offense.

Well, Pitt's offense broke all sorts of school records in 2016. You know, over 13 games. Not one.

He was at LSU for one year. Roger said LSU was really the only big time program he was an OC at. Does one year at LSU count more than one year at Wisconsin?

And then the only job he could land was fricking Maryland? Why weren't people beating down his door? His offense is silly.

O couldn’t set his ego and temper aside to try and work with the guy who knows a hell of a lot more about offense than himself.
Or maybe he wasn't crazy about the penalties.
"Players acknowledged Tuesday the Tigers operated with a different offense during the first half of the game against Troy.
Orgeron revealed Monday that he inserted himself into Canada’s system last week. He hoped to “simplify” it by eliminating the presnap shifts and motions to help a struggling offensive line that started two true freshmen."
This is from a couple players on the team:
"Clapp even said he prefers the shifts, but he admitted they can get “confusing” for such a young unit."
"That could have something to do with personnel, some offensive players suggested Tuesday.
“I feel like a lot of people don’t know the offense yet,” Malone said. “That kind of affects us.”"
quote:
The return of Canada’s scheme doesn’t mean immediate success. His unit scored seven points at Mississippi State, stumbled in the red zone against BYU and has gone three straight games without cracking the 175-yard rushing mark (a first since 2012 for LSU).
What's the direction of LSU's offense? Matt Canada to players: 'We're going to get back to us'

Well that silly offense did put up more points against UF and Bama than E did.

It seems like he fricked up the offense.
There are other ways to fix penalties.
And while he has the power to do that as the HC, I dont think anyone believed he should.
Would you hire O to be your OC?

Do you have a list of acceptably bigger jobs that were still available in mid-January for him? He still landed a P5 job in one of the deepest divisions in the country.

They were really beating the doors down when he was fired at LSU.
