explain "fun" because there isn't top level talent walking through

His bad recruiting and our lack of improvement as season goes on can be pulled from this. Clock is ticking, if he doesn’t start next year well.

i'm watching a team that shoots 29% from the floor.

they are all of a sudden going to be better shooters and more talented?

and assuredly new and better players will come in.

who knows what will happen here. there may not even be sanctions with the firing of wade.

It won't happen instantly obviously. But I expect players to improve by the end of the season / into next year.

if there's sanctions you hope for a "ban" this year where LSU isn't even making the NIT
Posted on 1/23/23 at 9:51 am to monsterballads
I don’t think any of the other schools under investigation received a ban. Doubt LSU does. If the thread rumoring no show cause for wade is correct then it will be a slap on the wrist.

And there is no way that other thread is accurate. Wade hasn't cooperated for one minute. No way they let him run another team with zero oversight.

I agree Drizz, I think he’s a middling coach at best who’s going to run a clean program and keep the athletic department out of trouble - and that’s all they care about. Will Wade was a chance at greatness for LSU basketball, McMahon is here to be clean and protect the dept as a whole from the NCAA. He’s not flashy and he’s not going to elevate this program. This program will go back to mediocrity near the bottom of the SEC and hope to sustain itself on easy out of conference wins. The dept didn’t care about winning with this hire bc it won’t matter, we’ll be held down by the NCAA if we do well for the next few years

Yes he’s had 44 starts for winning LSU teams prior to this season.
He's a great bench player and should be. Spare me his 3pt %. those are corner set shots. He's not off the dribble or hard cutting off screens. Stats are meant to be skewed to serve your narrative. so if you reply (I suggest you dont), dont give me an BS stats.

Not every player is a star, there are plenty of ranked recruits who don’t avg 20 and 10 but are key role players on winning teams.
No doubt. but not every role player is a starter. you have anything beyond stats to support what you are saying? my guess is no

yall need to chill.. we had 0 players a year ago, the guy built murry state into a contender... give him 3 years..

And who are you to determine if he's not up to the task? Are you a coach of some kind?
Your opinion is just that...yours!
GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE!

Use your eyes. For example, is Mwani a SEC caliber player? Idgaf what his recruiting rankings were.
He started for a team that made the tourney.
If not for the injury he would be a starter on this team.
Mac, preseason, was very positive about his BB play.

It really is laughable how many people come on here and confidently state obviously clueless positions . McMahon didn't "build Murray St. into a contender". Not even close. It was a successful program LONG before McMahon took over.
McMahon became the MSU coach for the 2015-2016 season. This was after Steve Prohm was hired by Iowa St. after winning the OVC with a 29-6 (16-0) record. In Prom's 4 seasons MSU either won the conference or finished first in their division all 4 seasons. This was after taking over for Billy Kennedy, who had won the OVC two straight season with a combined 54-14 record in those two seasons, after he was hired by Texas A&M.
In the 20 years prior to McMahon taking over, MSU had reached the NCAA Tournament 9 times. McMahon added to that with 3 NCAAT appearances of his own, but he did not "build MSU into a contender". It had already been one of the better mid-major programs in the country for over two decades when he was hired there.
In fact, that was one of the concerns I had early on with the McMahon hire. It was pretty commonplace to see MSU coaches get power conf. jobs:
Mark Gottfried to Alabama
Mick Cronin to Cincinnati
Billy Kennedy to A&M
Steve Prohm to Iowa St.
The success level of those previous coaches at major conf. jobs ranged from good (Cronin) to ok but inconsistent (Gottfried and Kennedy) to downright horrible (Prohm). That led to the obvious question -- was it the coaches that made MSU good? Or was it the program that made the coaches seem better than they are? Of course, the exact same thing could have been said for Wade when he came over from a VCU program with a long history of success spanning multiple coaches.

And you don’t think we need shooting? Do you understand that a high% 3pt shooter creates space on the floor? And I see you elected to ignore that he’s not only one of our best defenders but his size on the wing creates better matchups for us defensively and on the boards. The SEC POTY has been a defensive player multiple times and the guy who won it a couple years ago averaged about 6ppg before his Sr. Season. And BTW what’s our record been without him?

Sounded like a very standard press conference from a coach whose team is struggling to me. I’m sure the Will Wade stans are going to hop in here without actually watching the press conference to pile on, but I think you may be acting a bit disingenuous when you say that you “don’t dislike Coach Mc” when your entire recent post history is about how much you love Will Wade and shitting on the basketball program
Totally agree. OP needs some attention his way. OP looking for drama when there is none .
Kansas coach BILL SELF or TOM IZZO Could be coaching here with the same results and the dumazz board guys be like: this coach needs to retire, he' lost it.

Dude. Your antagonistic approach is really bullshite. You try this bullshite with everybody. Of course the team needs shooters genius. Stand in the corner and wait for the ball because I can't do anything offensively shooters are not the type we need. The team needs a point guard like smart that can get into the paint..... And 2 guards like Antonio blakeney that can elevate off the dribble and release over defenders. Not somebody who stands in the corner and waits for the ball like they are at a BREC pick up game. I actually like Wilkinson....and his defense. But you are way off. Learn when to take your Ls. You have a lot of them
Posted on 1/23/23 at 8:44 pm to Shaq4prez
That’s some hypocrisy right there boy. As far as your analysis, Wilk isn’t a 2 guard or a point guard so your comparisons make no sense. Spot up shooters do spread the floor no matter what your incorrect assumptions of basketball may be. We have a point guard Our coach just doesn’t play him there and his personnel combinations are the biggest problem with McMahon which is the whole point.
