I remember Wills first home game as a recruit. Sat directly behind him and had a conversation. He was cool as hell and not stuck up whatsoever. My buddy was there as a recruit also so I tagged along. Needless to say they ended up taking Chad Jones .

Where's Will at today?

2017 and 2018 O lines had problems with Bama. 2019 Oline dominated. Personnel did not change much. Shows you how much scheme and coaching play into solid Oline play

This Miles was a straight stubborn throwback with no imagination or guts to go in another directions. The Miles defenders trying to blame players are as dense has he is. He should have known after the SEC championship that his game plan sucked. JJ had 30 yards passing.

The offensive line absolutely got embarrassed in the 2011 title game. Physically it was like watching a college team against a high school team. The scheme didn’t help but if your Miles hate won’t let you admit that the O-line got exposed in that game then you have let emotion take over. The line acquitted itself much better in the first Bama game so that shows scheme wasn’t the only factor.

I will NEVER get over that, or the PIG HEADED decision to not insert him into the NC game when it was so crystal clear how ineffective we were. IMO, he just wanted to send a message to everyone, especially the fans, that he was the coach and he was going to make the decisions on who they played, not them. I think it was pride.

Clemson abused our offensive line and LSU still found ways to move the ball.

Put Les Miles in charge of this 2019 team and they lose to Bama, Auburn, and Texas in the regular season. Florida and the bowl game would be a toss up. It would be a typical 9-4 or 10-3 Les Miles “squandering talent” season.

To be fair if Lee stays in the game we lose the first Bama game and probably bad. As bad as Jefferson was Lee had zero chance against Bama their strengths matched up perfectly with his weaknesses. He was the better qb to play in most games except probably Georgia and Bama. We just had 2 extremely flawed qb’s that year.

Oh miles absolutely would have lost games with this team but that has zero to do with the 2011 performance. And the Clemson pressure was 100% different than what Bans did to our o-line. One was physically dominated to a man and the other were confused by unique blitz packages.

Nobody knows what would have happened had Lee been inserted into the game, because he wasn’t, and absolutely NO adjustments were made. NONE.

Offense was loaded with NFL talent minus the QB.

We had a shitty offensive line. It was a typical Les Miles team - loaded with defensive talent and WR and RB talent. Total shite at QB and an average offensive line.

And for God’s sake, quit wondering about Lee. He showed his lack of toughness when Bama hit him in the mouth. Go back and watch. It was a late hit that should have been penalized. Lee sat on the ground afterwards instead of popping up like a man. The next couple of series, when Lee dropped back to pass, he just flung the ball to get rid of it so he would not be hit again. No way the coaches should have EVER put him in the game again.

Les Miles

That’s kinda harsh.

He delivered a National Championship which is not easy to do. And of course there was the 2012 debacle in the dome that fully woke everyone.

IMO give Les respect. But his stubbornness was his weakness. We all knew that. Correct the problem (done), be humble & move on.

T Bob said earlier this week that Miles practiced the team too hard prior to the game. They weren't thrilled to be playing a rematch and weren't that confident.

No o-line could have done well when Bama was stacking the box with future NFL players. Miles played for another smash mouth, low scoring, field position game.
Aww frick it. It was 8 years ago and I no longer care.
The 2019 team finished the job. They withstood an early Clemson assault and rallied. They found a way.

Wasn’t OBJ second in receptions behind Randle that year?

Ware and Shep have had OK careers from a longevity perspective.

Lee crapped his pants at Tuscaloosa - and was scared shitless in that game. Jefferson came in to guide the win. I am convinced it was Jefferson's play at Bama that made Les start him and keep him in the natty.
