Those balls he hit in Omaha were fun to watch

That beast launched one in to the upper deck in the Superdome at the Winn-Dixie showdown one year. Still think it was the furthest I've ever seen a baseball hit in person. Was a Jose Canseco in Skydome type shot.

Y’all are forgetting about the shot he hit at the book the ended up at the apartment complex behind left field. Longest ball I saw hit at the old box

HE played basketball first. Had no idea he was such a stud baseball player. Him and Hymel were mashing the ball.

The story goes that he was undecided about what to play after his 1st season on the court, so he went to Daddy Dale. Dale supposedly told him that there are a lot of 6'5" guards, very few to no 6'5" outfielders in pro baseball.

I don't doubt it but I didn't see that one in person. I remember seeing Todd Walker hit a bomb that looked like it was going to clear Nicholson

I played with Lyle in the LA AllStar game. He was the player of the year as a senior and was the best player in the AllStar game and there were 2 guys that played in the NBA on the other team. Got to hang out with him for a week. Then while we were at LSU, if he saw me on campus he would come talk to me like we were old friends. Only a class act does that. Very happy for him & his success

He led sTm of Lafayette to the LHSAA Basketball state championship in Lafayette.

John Simpson was voted to the All-tournament team the year STM won its first time in 1986 in Baton Rouge. Mouton was all-tournament the next year when STM lost to Washington-Marion by a point.
Lafayette didn't start its run as a host until 1997.

That's a big point guard. He was massive on the diamond

He didn't wind up playing point here. His three from the corner was tight though and he was a solid SG.

Hot take

Mouton and Gary Hymel were a much better college baseball 1-2 punch than Clark and Palmero

Thats an awful take and I love LSU but I saw ALL four play and it is not even close.
