I read that the AD and university supported his roid rage so they won't learn this year. Maybe in a couple years it'll show up and affect his production on the field.

The more I read about this, the more I think there was a LOT more brewing with Schnall and the CC staff before the ejection.

1. It seems Schnall has a reputation for being awful to NCAA officials.
2. It appears he was chirping about balls and strikes throughout the tournament and throughout the first inning of the game in question.
3. Morrison was whining to the officials about LSU 3rd base coach Josh Jordan possibly seeing grips inside Morrison's glove (an accusation of cheating).
4. Schnall was clearly given warnings by the ump BEFORE exiting the dugout. Further, CC 1st base coach Schilling was acting to aggravate the situation rather than deescalate.
6. Prior to the ejection, Schnall can be seen saying "or fricking what?!" in response to the warning, before repeating his displeasure with three calls.

All before 30 pitches were thrown. When you take all of this into consideration, it doesn't seem out of the ordinary to get tossed so early.

CC is probably a decent enough small, independent state university. That "small, independent" status means survival heavily depends on the charity of the legislature. Checking the website LINK shows the Bd of Trustees is loaded with legislators.

I doubt if any administrator or trustee there disapproves of the homegrown baseball staff.

This is not what happened, and Schnall admitted this in his presser.

The warning was issued, Schnall came came out of the dugout (which you are not supposed to do after a warning) and asked "For what?". He was informed the warning was for arguing balls and strikes and was instructed to go back to the dugout. Instead of going back, he responded "Thats because you missed three calls". He was asked to go back to the dugout again and he repeated the line "Thats because you missed three calls". Then he got run.

Watch the presser. Schnall's whole reason for his reaction was "I am 48 and no grown man is going to shoo me away". This is fricking stupid.

If there is one thing I have learned from Jay is in the Travel Ball Meathead era of college baseball, overly emotional teams and coaches get beat by the cool, calm and collected when it matters most. Sure, it is great for regular season games but when the pressure is on, they melt. I knew we were winning #8 when Schnall got tossed.

He's not getting fired.

He's a long-time assistant (probably spent most of his career as a bad cop) in his first year with the big job and he has a lot to learn. Hopefully he does.

Excellent breakdown.
He heard warning.
He heard 2nd warning.
And he still kept charging toward the umpire while yelling "you missed 3 calls, you missed 3 calls"
He deserved to be ejected.

No one is questioning this ejection if its not in the CWS final.

Take JJ vs Arky for example.

Seriously? Schnall was yapping about balls and strikes in FIRST INNING! Who does that? I’ve watched literally thousands of games and never seen it!
While the umpire might have walked over to him and said don’t make me toss you, he also might have thought I don’t need this shite already and had little patience with him. I think what Schnall did was calculated and bush. F**k around and find out.

Pretty sure he was sauced up in that interview too. Could hear it in his voice and mannerisms.

Schnall had a reputation, and every Umpire there knew about it.

Not only does the coach have a reputation, but so does the umpire. Schnall should have composed himself better, not only because of the setting but because Campos has always had a quick trigger.

Showed he was unprepared for the big stage, really.

Also what irks me is in the presser he says he immediately got rung up for 2 game suspension by the ump that fell, but the ump that fell made ZERO motions to indicate that. Schnall is not even looking at that guy

Angel Campos started the problem with a ticky tack warning, amplified the situation with his piss poor communication, and should never call another CWS game.
Goodness!
The CC complaint regarded a mid-zone strike. By comparison, Jay's "not allowed to argue" response to the idiotic ruling about Dickinson dropping his elbow on BALL FOUR to PROTECT HIS BROKEN HAND, should arise.

Getting called for intentionally trying to get hit with a pitch that is clearly ball 4 is beyond wild.

Someone with some goddamn common sense please change the rule so this doesn't happen to anyone ever again.

Schnall and the douche assistants got in a scuffle with LSU fans at hotel bar last night. Cops were called and they all ran back to their hotel.
