re: I am worried that our Zone defense is not prepared for Leach and Miss St

But they were still running crosses and drags on 80% of plays, and we most certainly did not handle those well last week.
Still have every opportunity to adjust and approve, but I’ll agree with the OP that the styles don’t seem to match up well on paper at this point

if house has the defense 10+ yards off of the LOS, next week's game will be very long. the way you beat leach is disrupt timing routes of his WR's by pressing coverage and forcing turnovers.

FSU did a lot of their damage because their QB could buy time and keep plays alive.
I was really impressed with the FSU QB.
And he was just a 3-Star out of High School no less!!

Isn’t a zone defense what we criticized O for not running against MSU in 2020?
It all comes down to tackling. We did exactly what we need to do against FSU scheme wise. We just didn’t tackle.
The same zone scheme is exactly what you want against a Leach offense. Keep the plays in front of you and protect against big gains.

Hopefully their QB isn’t as good at avoiding pressure as FSU’s. We should get some sacks vs the Dawgs to get our D off the field more.

Well our D-line (which is supposed to be a strength) must play up to their hype!!!

I had two current NFL scouts tell me that State had one of the best teams in the nation that no one is talking about.
Both said they had them in the top three or four SEC teams that they had watched during camp and they watched every SEC squad besides Vandy. This was always going to be a tough game to win,it's just not a good match-up for us.

Our zone coverage has sucked for a while now.

It sounds like you have some pretty good sauces.

State was #7 in time of possession last season. Three that were ranked higher were the service academies.
I was talking about State running the ball more than usual vs Memphis, not using clock. They’ve been a ball control offense since Leach got there.

Not just tackling. Our LBs and Safeties have to diagnose the play faster and close space down before the ball is out. You can’t get into position to make a good play if you are a step slow getting to the receiver.
