dl depth should be pretty good. Might not lose anyone. DL depth is enormous in this year's draft. I seriously doubt Fehoko leaves.

Why? Lawrence and Fehoko have no business in even thinking about leaving.

We need better players though. Those guys are good but not elite like Bama has.

Our DL is not elite and has no top picks this year

Not ragging at all. Our DL eats space, but brings no great push. Individually, they don’t stand out most games as they don’t create significant pressure.

Does that translate as a basis to go pro?

Neither did Clapp or Weathersby from last year but here we are. Could have been a completely different game with those 2 back.

Lawrence and Fehoko don’t need to just come back. They need to get stronger and faster. Who has confidence in Moffitt accomplishing that? I don’t. And I’m not sure Meatball is the technique coach to take them to the next level either.

The OL will return, essentially, every starter. That will be good for that unit. Should be much better next year

I’m not. If we get Lawerence, Fehoko, and Alexander back (which we should) there isn’t a reason to worry about that. Our offensive line sucked dick last night. Kardell should start day 1.

None of those guys are really great at rushing the passer. They are all better suited to eat up blocks and play the run. People forget we lost chaisson to start the season and that really hampered our pass rush. It’s not a good excuse as we should have more than 1 guy for that but that’s the situation we are in.
As far as recruiting goes I find our dl haul so far to be very underwhelming. It seems as though sopsher is not coming here and I don’t see us mentioned for any other top dl recruits. Bringing in only 1 3 star dt in this class would be a huge failure even with our starters coming back. After all they won’t have eligibility after next year and we will be pretty thin for 2020 without relying mostly on inexperienced players up front.

If Fehoko and Lawrence were to leave, we could be scary thin. I know most are saying they shouldn’t leave but how has that worked out in the past for us. We have had a ton of guys who “shouldn’t leave” decide to go

Nobody on this roster should be leaving early to the draft. Will they? Who knows but they certainly haven't come close to living up to expectations this season.

I think you guys fail to see the problems with our DL. In a 3-4 they're suppose to eat blocks up in the run. The problem here is they're not that good here either. I see them get washed out of plays all the time and the defense is gashed in the run game. When LSU is running a 3-4 getting pressure is nice but not their primary role. I don't think any of these guys will ever do that other than just bullrushing through the line.

They had high expectations to be great this year but they're not. Falls on coaching shoulders and O should not be letting these guys play mediocre since this is his role here. If Aranda was not here O would've been fired already so they should be switching salaries. Meanwhile, Aranda can insert pretty much anyone at LB it seems like and good production from them regardless. Aranda should be the HC at LSU here not O and he should be getting his salary because it's clear this team would be a travesty without him here.

I'm not convinced Chaisson is the answer at pass rush either. You need other guys that can compliment this role but nobody else is a consistent pass rush. Did Chaisson even get consistent pressure his freshman year? I don't remember so. I heard the same thing with Hunter because he looked like a freak but played raw.

A few things need to go our way:

1. Fehoko and Alexander need to make a wise decision and come back, considering this years DL class is arguably the greatest of all time.

2. Alexander's knees need to be really managed well. He basically needs to only do low impact cardio and wear a non-contact jersey when he's not playing in games.

3. We need to recruit 2-3 more in this class that can contribute immediately. We aren't getting Sop, especially after last night, but he'd definitely contribute day 1.

ETA:

Good point about Chaisson in here as well. With him back next year, and if the 3 things above happen, we should have a great pass rush. Queen looked pretty damn solid in White's role and Phillips will be an All-American.

I think Quinan Williams was a 3* DT out of Birmingham for them

Agreed on the Oline. We seem to be addressing needs there and after last night, we need all the help we can get. We've had trouble recruiting dline in recent years despite that being O's calling card. Look no further than the build of bama's dline compared to ours. All 6'4 or 6'5, 300 lbs, long/lean and can move. Our guys are 6'2 300 lbs with short arms and don't move too well.

We'll be better up front with more depth at least we just basically redshirted a whole recruiting class

It will, but they are currently without an RT imo. I don't know if development can make Deculus an OT.
