You don't have to be a "good" person to win wars and I'm just fine with that, but to automatically have this perception that Marines are good people outside of their uniform is a false premise.
I guess we all hope that these heroes are good people too and it leads to the benefit of the doubt in situations like this....unfortunately it causes the other side in this case to carry the burden of the guilt before everything is known.

That's it. That's why they are mad. They don't know the facts. No one does at this point.

I am an active duty Marine stationed in New Orleans, I grew up in Slidell a huge LSU fan. I can tell you this. No Marine that is found at a bar is completely innocent. I do not know the circumstances behind this encounter but I can tell you most Marines when drunk are about as arrogant as any Bama fan you can think of. This whole incident could have very well been an incident caused by something that happened inside the bar which is why the Lawyer for LSU wanted to show the police a video from inside the bar that he was able to recover. Jefferson has never done anything that would tell me that he is the type to just attack someone. My real question would be why is there a Marine in Baton Rouge? Is he a reservist? there are no bases near that area unless the guy is a recruiter, on leave, or a reservist?

Did anybody catch the news story last week about the increasing amount of gang activity within the military. The investigative reporter blamed it on lax entrance standards. I still want to believe that most of our military are honorable individuals, but every organization has its bad apples.

Good point. This "marine" thing makes people think Audie Murphy was in his fatigues minding his own business.
It reminds me somewhat of the hullabaloo around the 2001 Auburn-LSU game when the guy who coordinates Auburn's "Tiger Walk" was hit in the hit by a a football.Turns out the fellow had cancer. Yet the Alabama media, especially Phillip Marshall in Huntsville was almost giddy in stating "LSU fans thrown football at Auburn fan with cancer."
