If we had a hammer to complement him, I'd feel more confident.
The freshman kid coming in reminds me of a Ridley or Marshawn Lynch type of back. Hopefully he can be the hammer. No telling how good he'll be because we haven't seen him in college yet.

Not quite a premature melt, but close. Glass half empty for sure. Carry on
I assumed we'd have a stout D and an elite running game with Guice pushing for 1st Team All American honors. I was hopeful Etling could manage the game.
Etling met my hopes, but my assumptions on both Guice and the defense were off. The defense got pushed around at times, and when Guice was limited, the offense looked bad.
So this year, I'm going in with lower expectations. If we can exceed them, great. But I'm not buying in just yet; let's see after Auburn. We should know by then how this will shake out.

I’m not worried about weight when CEH is fricking 5’8. Have you seen that dudes lower body? He’s built like a Mack truck. He wasn’t some scrub from a recruiting perspective. Curry, Provens and brossette will provide what we need, it will just be different than what we’ve had in the past. By the way, what the frick has LSU accomplished when there’s one stud in the backfield?

Last year we were very thin on the d front 7, and then injuries and suspensions devastated the d early on. Guice was injured or whatever and never lived up. The all-american key was actually a liability most of the time he was on the field.
Lot more depth this year.
Lot more depth this year.

By our previous standards of "win championships" this season is going to be another train wreck
By our new lowered standards of "Let's try to win 8 or 9 games" I think we have a good chance of achieving that goal. We have an unusually weak schedule against FCS schools hosting SE, LA Tech, and Rice, which is balanced a bit by our usual strong opener against an established OOC contender and Georgia as our SEC East rotating opponent. We play a lot of our SEC games away from home, but truth be told this schedule doesn't look any harder than any other year for the most part.
It will have the distinction however of being the strongest SOS Orgeron has had to face since becoming LSU's head coach, whether you factor in his partial 2016 season or not. The man has a lot to prove and this is going to be his quintessential chance to do so; there won't be a lot of room for argument of "he needs more time to get established" after two full seasons as head coach and the bulk of a third one as a temp, especially when this latest one is back to our usual SOS standards of what an LSU team has to face in the SEC.
This is business as usual, do or die. Orgeron desperately needs a ten win season to have true job security, and the floor established by Les Miles who we deemed as irredeemably stubborn and bad at his job as of recent times is 8-4. (8-5 if we include the bowl game, the infamous 2008 season where we only won seven regular games and also 2014 where we hit that by losing the bowl) We fired the man after taking us to the national title game in 2011, and then posting a ten win season every year except 2014 after that, so it's perfectly reasonable to expect Orgeron to do ten or more this year
I personally think Orgeron will deliver to us the worst football season we've seen since 2008 with another 7-5 regular season performance, and it would have potential to be the worst season since 1999 if we lose a bowl game ontop of that. We'll see how it goes, but I don't see how anyone can sit down, look at the numbers, and say that we've been improving since 2016

What numbers do you speak of?

Well I wasn't overreacting because my post was aimed at the poster who said 8 wins is a good season.

Well, we went 5-3 in the sec in 2016, and 6-2 in 2017. So by the numbers, in his one full year, he improved in the sec. But by all means, keep up your agenda.
Btw, lsu currently faces four preseason top 10 teams...but go ahead and play it down to fit your agenda.

SEC play isn't the only competition in the mix here. We can't suddenly throw out Troy because we beat Auburn who we had lost to in 2016, that's silly

?
I've never exchanged with you on here, and hadn't seen your name on here until yesterday.
Apparently you don't care for positive people. That's cool. Peace out.

Lol....didn't you just say ANY numbers that show improvement. I have a feeling you aren't even a troll. Sadly.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and post the dictionary definition of the word any

determiner & pronoun
1.
used to refer to one or some of a thing or number of things, no matter how much or many.
"I don't have any choice"
Meaning it takes many points of view to arrive to a logical conclusion. I hope this helps since six o'clock is bourbon time in Pensacola

Wait what losing to Troy snapping a long home ooc winning streak and first time ever loss to SunBelt doesn’t count?
And you have the gall to claim you are objective?
