70 pitches in that 1 2/3 innings. He was done for the day.

FWIW, Pomeranz threw something like 116 pitches in just 4 innings and was taken out. Batters definitely beat the pitchers in game 1.

the real dropoff will come next season, when everyone will see how poorly Manieri and staff have recruited, especially pitchers!

I don't see us winning the sec either, and odds are we won't get a top 8 seed

I think super regional is about as far as we gonthis year

certainly that can change and we've seen great late season runs the last two years, but idk, we'll see

So, if I could summarize this thread, its a bunch of idiots who are overreacting to 2 games?

You make it sound like we've played poorly for only two games

We've played a few games poorly, and a bunch very well. Before yesterday, everyone was fine with the direction of the team, 1 bad day shouldn't change that.

Well personally, there's been things that have concerned me all year long and unless they change, we won't make Omaha, IMO

The staff gambled on ZVR and Colvin, and they got burned. From an overall perspective, I don't think the recruiting has been "poor" at all.

I wouldn't say it's an over-reaction. It's becoming apparent that we have real problems on this team, and these are problems that could very well keep us out of Omaha. This didn't just begin yesterday.

The over-reaction may just be frustration - before the year started, I didn't really see Omaha as a great possibility, but after a month I thought I was wrong. Now it's frustrating to realize that I was probably right from the get-go. Hopefully we can catch a hot streak to propel us down the stretch, but that's asking a lot.

fwiw, I don't question Mainieri about yesterday. I'm not sure if there's anything he could have done that would've made a difference. We just don't have the pitching this year.

Why bring Bourgios out in the 4th. His pitching decisions have been suspect all year long. Waits too long to warn up pitchers and seems to be guessing alot.

Maineri is a hell of a coach and if he knew what the right move was he would be making it. Right now our pitching is so inconsistent the fan's guesses are probally just as good as the coaches. I do believe he will move ott to a starter's role.
