Please note that I'm not trying to advocate for this to happen, just want to hear the Rant's opinion on it. This is completely hypothetical.

Pelini has been catching more and more heat at Nebraska (especially after losing to Minnesota with a back-up coach on Saturday). A lot of folks on the Rant want Chief to be gone due to the "3rd and Chavis" situation. IF we fire Chavis and IF Nebraska fires Pelini, what would you guys think about bringing Pelini back as DC?

His defenses were just above mediocre here and have been below mediocre at Nebraska.

Didn't they give up like 90 points in their championship game last season?

Do you think he's gotten BETTER as a DC since he left? Because he wasn't very good when he was here...

Muschamp, and we'll talk.

Pelini was just as bad on 3rd down.

No thanks.

Bo Pelini is decent with good players. If he doesn't have good players though, he's fricked.

He wouldn't do it. It's not even a lateral move from where he's at. It's a step down.

Again, not trying to advocate for that to happen. Just wanted to generate some discussion.

He gave up what 500yds to Arkansas, made zero adjustments, and said his D played great. So no. No Bo P.

Can't see that happening.
Chavis ain't going anywhere. We're not producing on D this year but he's no Malveto. He'll get mucho rope.

I can remember Pelini not having to recruit as a condition of his hire last time out. I couldn't help but wonder what that would mean for Nebraska since to me that's not a great sign for a head coach that would have such and integral cog to program success negotiated out at his previous gig.

His defenses were prone to the same breakdowns as Chasvis's

How about no?
The Chief is doing fine. His players litter the NFL and most are doing great. Seems to me he just has a young core group and he is doing fine. When we drop out of the top 25 year after year then there is an issue. Right now there is nothing better than the Chief.

According to the meltdowns on the Rant over the last few weeks, you'd think a lot of people would want him fired.

His D can't stop a spread offense.

I don't want this to happen either, but I do want the Rant's opinion on it as well. Should Obama get a 3rd, 4th and 5th term?

This is completely hypothetical, because it's not going to happen, but I am just throwing it out there.

Can you be specific on the breakdowns? Perhaps it was just better talent, but I recall his defenses putting much more pressure on the QB and getting a lot of turnovers.

FWIW, I think the lack of turnovers is what is plaguing this defense the most. Look at when the Saints won the Super Bowl. They gave up a lot of yards, but their attacking style forced a lot of turnovers which gave the ball back to a great offense. We now have that great offense and need to get the ball back in their hands.
