Floyd should be on Sunday eventually if we feel like he needs to start.

Agreed. I hope Hurd takes the Saturday role, because it means he's completely back to form. Just think, Taylor and Noot would likely be pushing very hard for a weekend starter spot if they hadn't gotten hurt. Floyd should be #2-3 right now, but he could have been option 5-6.

They changed Hurd's delivery to take the stress off of his back. I think he's getting real close to form. The arm and stuff have been there, it's just about finding consistency after that kind of adjustment. I really wanted to pull him up to Saturday this weekend, but it's nice now to be up 2-0 and have him lurking, charting pitches, getting intel, etc.

Floyd is the same pitcher he was last year and the year before.

He’s way better now than he was 2 years ago.

Doesn't make him not good. Every team in the nation would trade starting staffs with Tennessee if given the opportunity, and that includes LSU.

Floyd will be fine once he learns not to leave pitches over the heart of the plate when he’s ahead with 2 strikes

You're not wrong, but the ump today didn't do him any favors with this either.

He also missed almost a year with a back injury. I'm not saying he doesn't have the capability to be a Friday SEC guy, but as of this moment he is not.

He’s shown progress in each of his starts this year and looked dominant in his last 2 starts (granted against lesser competition). I think he’s back to being Friday material.

Shores has great potential, but he hasn’t shown anything impressive. He throws nothing but fastballs, and hasn’t gone long at all.

Shores is not a weekend guy right now

I'll agree with you after tomorrow hopefully.

Well fortunately they won’t pitch against each other. I’m happy both are on LSU’s team.

Maybe, but he still can’t consistently throw anything other than a straight, flat fastball. Just like last year and the year before that will not cut it in the SEC. In SEC he will give up at least 1 run per inning. That is simply not good enough.

Fair enough. I agree he needs to show it against SEC competition.

Now use Floyd’s name instead of Shores and you have the same point

Shores is 6’8” and can hit 99. That is a lot to work with. Saw him live agains Western Michigan. He threw 4 pitches strikes. 5 if you count two different fastballs. But, he is an 18 year old Kid that needs to learn how to pitch.

Compare their stats on the year thus far against similar competition. It’s not even close.

Shores barely makes it 2 innings

That’s why he’s starting midweek games. It’s exactly where he should be.

He needs a strikeout pitch and he hasn’t found it yet. He will be needed for the post season

By design my arse lol I’ve watched every game. He’s gotten pulled because of walks and teams squaring him up. Mid week is perfect for him to get in the groove
