How would you grade the playcalling yesterday?

I was fairly impressed with the passing. Run game could use some work (more Kaleb Jackson), but I thought Sloan and Hankton did a great job

Diggs going out on his first run I think changed some things. Cain doesn't have the same abilities and obviously Jackson just isn't ready for all his assignments or something.

yeah the RB rotation should be interesting next year.

I habe been impressied with diggs all year. Good in all 3 phases, always seems to fall forward to get a yard or 2.

But Jackson just pops off the screen. you can tell there is a real difference there.

Decent overall. I think the run scheming has to change next year though, something to compliment Nuss’ abilities more + to keep the defense off balance.

Jackson is going to be an elite runner I think.

Agreed. Kaleb is just so explosive, I look forward to seeing him and Diggs next year

RPOs were non existent (with good reason), hated the RB rotation (Williams had more carries than Jackson, Diggs, Holly and Cain combined), could tell early on Nuss had a directive to protect the ball and didn't like the run/pass balance without the threat of the RPO, 33% on third down, 0% on 4th down, and a turnover

BK better have been reaching out to OCs and their agents on the plane home

First half playcalling was pretty frustrating. Was it Nuss's decision making or the play callers coming up with all those 5 yard passes on 3rd and long?

That's what I loved! Williams is the guy I want to see back there if we can't have Diggs.

The offensive line struggled for a few drives. Once they settled in on both passing and running plays, everything clicked.

That was the 2022 disease that JD5 had. Hope we can cure Nuss like JD5 was cured. So frustrating to watch possession after possession.

I was impressed. 394 yards passing is impressive although the run game needs improving, but we was playing from behind the whole game. I think we should promote those guys as the Offensive Coordinator's. Hankton and Sloan.

Agree with you.
His cut to the left is nasty and reminds me of Guice.

A QB making his first start in an offense designed around a Heisman QB with an entirely different skill set playing a team with a damn good P5 defense (statistically similar to Florida State) with its biggest strength being run support and no major opt-outs on that side of the ball. We then lose our best RB on his first carry in an offense that has had to rely on the QB for its run game production all season while playing a QB that was at no time a threat to run.

Taking into account all of this, we hung 35 points on them with absolutely NO help with field position from special teams or defense, I would say they called an amazing game.

I thought Nuss played a great game, but the few areas he did not (missing some open guys early) was no fault of the play calling. The fact that people were melting about the shitty play calls and QB play resulting in check down completions for 5 yards was mind boggling but expected here.

The play callers and probably the script early had the short passes

Was very good and well coached. Nuss looked like a vet out there.

I won’t complain a bit about that offense

Which is a nice thing to be able to say after watching lsu considering the recent past

Our entire running game was based on Daniels and we were playing a team whose entire existence is built around stopping the run. The turnover was purely on the communication between Nuss and Thomas. If you want to dig for something, perhaps a QB sneak on short yardage, or a quicker hitting run play would've been a better call in short yardage. Even that is rather hard when your center is thrown back 3 yards into the ball carrier.
