easy...
heavy package with Tyler shelvin FB and Price tailback... good luck stopping that shite..
edit.. give shlevin 5-7 yards to get a full head of steam going...
if you can stop that, then we dont deserve to score..

We didn’t convert on 4th with nearly an identical play. If we ran it again we would need to do it out of the gun with no motion. It was a dead give away.
Wyatt had this play in his breakdown of the game. LSU had Clyde stacked out to that side initially which brought 4 defenders over there. Clyde went in motion back toward Burrow and his defender didn't come with him. That left 2 blockers for 4 defenders.
They need to have Joe read that play a little better when that extra defender stays home. Maybe have a safety valve option to the other side of the field for Joe.

Yep.
Wyatt did a good job of showing why that didn't work. Hanny suggested we should have used it earlier, maybe on 2nd down.

And for those paying attention, our red zone O needs something.
Last week was the first time we struggled in the red zone

I said the same thing in another thread. I like the call, just not on that down and need a check off if numbers are bad.

Our first 3X vs State, 3 FGs. Area for improvement.
That's 2 weeks in a row. I'm not the only one noticing that.

Yep. Means we have the #s somewhere else.

Maybe a reverse with halfback pass option. Have several speed guys like Kirkland who played QB. More swing routes to RB in space.
I too would have liked to see Shelvin on that goal line stand vs Auburn.
I’d love another TE reverse that helped us beat Bama before.
But outside of trick plays the only thing I’d really like to see is more spread on short yardages vs trying to pound it up the middle. Or run outside when they give it to you.

Sure
But as a whole we have done very well up until the last game.
And if we take the points it doesn't look as bad.

43 of 44 Red Zone scoring
34 of 44 Red Zone TDs
9 Red Zone FGs
Our one miss was a turnover on downs when we went for it on 4th. We did look worse than usually vs Auburn, though.

I tjought We would throw a lot more passes to RBs. Like swing passes and actually sending them out on routes.
We send RB’s out pretty frequently, they’re just usually covered. Then we attack the middle of the field vacated by the LB that went out with the RB.

I’ve noticed we send them out pretty often but they’re usually appear to be more of a safety valve than a defined RB pass.
Not really complaining as clearly things have been going well.
I just thought we would see more with Brady coming from the Saints. As far as easy things for college QBs to implement, a designed pass to a RB which is basically an extension of the run game feels like one of them.
Also I would Love in a short yardage situation when Joe goes under center tossing the ball out to a RB and letting him run for the edge.
Another thing the Saints do a lot with Kamara that works

CEH to Burrow's right, fake the handoff with CEH going left, Burrow tucks it and rolls right like a designed run, LBs and DBs come up and commit, pull it out and air it out for Marshall or Chase.
Sincerely,
Uncle Rico
I actually have seen Hurts run something similar this year with OU.

Jumbo package with Shelvin. Tell me that wouldn't make you smile.
We have a really good fullback by the name of Tory, who we need to use like the Saints use Line.
Shelvin is too valuable on D to use energy/risk injury at a position with which he’s not experienced.

interesting. this is a debate worth having but few sincere answers
passing game has been awesome
we need to stretch the field east and west when running some
we have run no trick plays this year. not a reverse. halfback pass, flea flicker, etc
Expansion of the offensive scheme is coming Nov 9

Maybe some mis-direction / jet sweeps or reverse.
Our WR (Dillon/Chase) have ALOT of speed, and it seems our run blocking is better on the outside zone. Comparatively.
Btw: Pay attention to Jeffersons run blocking on the outside, its top notch

Add some wildcat and agree a jumbo package with Shelvin and Tory Carter

I would like to see us go to the line and snap the ball without the Merkat check with me bull shite that we have seen since the Vandy game.
Give Joe a list of 5-6 RPO plays and let him go to the line, call the play and run it and then get to the line and run the next play as soon as the ref gets off the ball and out the way.
Give the defense no time to call a defense formation and make them run out of base formation. Run at least two plays in a row and on occasion run a third play as fast as possible to throw them off. Basically what we did against Texas. We got away from it since the vandy game and we have not put up the numbers since. We still have a great offense but not a 50 point monster that we need to be because we are playing to help save the defense. We need to play like there is 2 minutes left in the game from the first snap.
