How will the "turf" factor change the dynamic of a LSU/Bama rematch?

This will obviously speed up the game but to whose benefit?

If you don't think this is a big deal you probably never played football.

Let me guess, faster field?

We're built more for speed, Bama's built more for power. I think it'll give us a slight advantage.

Both teams are fast, but LSU is faster - so I'd say it will benefit LSU more.

Yes it will be a positive factor for LSU. LSU is faster to the edge than bama. Their powerful 260 pound linebackers will be doing lots of running this game. Anyone that doesn't think field surface makes a difference don't know chit.

i think this is a legitimate conversation. Bama struggled with LSUs option with Jefferson and Ford, who is the "speed" RB. Historically, turf plays faster, so it could turn out to be the difference between a 1st down or 4th and 2 or something like that.

Offense, negligible. Both teams have power running games. Helps guys like Ford, Shep. Not enough difference to hurt Richardson first and foremost and only slight disadvantage to Ware/Hilliard - still won't be a factor.

Clearly, fast fields benefit the faster team. Slower teams are slowed down by faster fields.
That's why Green Bay has a slow team - to maximize their benefit of playing on grass.
