How will this newly formed tropical depression impact us? Expected to pass over BR tomorrow.

From the local weather app on tomorrow....

Supposed to be a local cold front merging with the storm that will make it non-tropical.

I was just about to ask if they cover the field like the grounds crew does in baseball.

No, they don't. Perhaps you may have wondered why players don't ever get mud stains on their uniforms in Tiger Stadium anymore. The reason is that there is no dirt.

The grass in Tiger Stadium is grown directly on sand. The sand is bound together by thread-like fibers which are run throughout the sand layer. The roots of the Bermuda grass bind with the fibers, making the grass layer solid without binding with dirt.

The sand layer is deep, like about two feet deep. Underneath the sand is an extensive drainage system. The sky could open up an drop twenty inches of rain on Tiger Stadium and the playing surface would not have standing water and there would be no mud.

So, fyi, rain has no effect on the playing surface under foot in Tiger Stadium.

Obviously, poor field conditions are an advantage to the less talented team. So AU should wish for a freakin monsoon.

LSU has Joe Burrow. So as long as he is healthy, LSU will beat Auburn no matter what happens with the weather, referees and/or if Auburn plays well.

Field should be covered today.

With the drainage system under the field and the turtle back design there is no need to cover the field.
That and the latest forecast has the rain out of Baton Rouge by about 7:00 am, so the field should not be an issue.

I'm worried all this rain will slow our offense down. Anyone else concerned?

Dude. Y'all act like this is the first time LSU and our players will have played in less than ideal conditions. We live in louisiana, it rains alot. You don't think that the coaches have maybe put an emphasis on getting the team prepared to play in wet conditions? Also, y'all do realize that Auburn has to play in these conditions as well right? LSU will be fine. We have towels, gloves, long cleats, and other measures in preparation for weather like tomorrow's. It's not supposed to even rain during the game or 5 hours before it. The field drains very well and it will be in alot better shape than some of you think. how would you feel if you were an Auburn fan ffs? They don't even look good on offense in perfect conditions. Their qb nix has a 50% completion rate and he has yet to play in wet conditions. LSU will be fine. Geaux Tigers.
