How will our defense attack Dak differently?

Last year we seemed to try to contain him but had way too many missed tackles. Do we keep that same approach with Steele or do we try to make him commit to run or pass quicker by coming hard right at him?

Hopefully we have less than 19 missed tackles this year

We gonna employ the bold strategy of fielding a competent middle linebacker.

I think we simply will tackle better this year.

"Attack" may be the key word.
Not sure there was much attack in the defensive scheme for most games.

Hopefully we tackle the sh*t out of him.

Probably similar to the way that Bama played Dak. Given how inexperienced MSU o-line is Steele will probably add a few stunts and disguised blitz to confuse them

Beckwith busting him if he comes up he middle.
Hell, everybody busting him the whole game

There really is no way to stop him.

Tolliver, Jefferson, Beckwith, Adams . . . the list goes on. The speed and aggressiveness we saw in the short McNeese game will be on display Saturday night, and they will make his arse quit.
I pity that fool.

I watched the State game replay twice this summer on SECN. Welter pretty much made it 11 vs. 10 when he was on the field.

Beckwith tackles him
Yeah, well Beckwith didn't do too well last year when he was in the game, and Notre Dame ran roughshod over him, so no, Beckwith is not the answer.
As with all read option teams, the key is for your front four to play competent two-gap technique. Do that, and apply a little pressure with different light blitzes, and we'll kill them.
Our line was young and we had almost no developed backups. State's offensive line was experienced. This year we have a good dline and good backups, and State does not have as good of an oline. We should roll.

Scheme was not the problem last year.
Players were out of position and when they were in position tackles were missed.

Our 4-2-5 lineup is beastly with talent. Usually first games are sloppy on tackling, but I have faith they'll wrap em up.
Our strength in the middle will screw up Dak's day, but he'll still get his. I imagine the safeties will be helping on Dak and De'Runnya a lot.

The staff did some scouting in Panama City. Turns out, if you bust him in the mouth, he quits.
