I know we don't have a great team this year; but falling short of two top-five wins, one by a single play, doesn't mean you shouldn't be in the top 20.

"One by a single play"?

You forget that we were really, really lucky to even be in that position late. Moo U was killing us all night, and they had called off the dogs.

Auburn never called off the dogs.

We're ranked where we should be, IMHO.

I think we are appropriately ranked. When you lose two games the way we did, you have to climb your way back up.

Rankings are pretty meaningless until Oct 28th.

What's un-serious about that? There is no reason LSU's two losses should be considered worse than Oklahoma's (KSU and TCU), USC's (BC for the love of God and ASU), or Clemson's (Georgia and FSU without Winston). There is also a good argument for LSU being ahead of more of the one-loss teams.

I'm tired of hearing this "single play" business. It was a hail Mary pass, which rarely works out. MSU called off the dogs too early or the score would have been worse.

I think LSU is improving and probably should be about #15. Not enough offense to be higher.

Theoretically the polls don't matter, but I think they have an impact on people's perceptions of how good you are.

We are pretty close to where we deserve to be, that being said, I think we'd be favored over most of those 15-22 teams right now...

It could have been a number of other single plays through the course of the game, such as the four consecutive runs up the middle at the goal line resulting in no points.

The point is it's a much closer game than anyone else has managed against a team that's now #1. If that's not an understandable loss, I don't know what is.

I think 15-20 is fair, not 23 and 24.

Are we really going to beat our cheat over "who's the best two loss team". This is just pathetic on so many levels. LSUs finally headed into the meat of its schedule.

It worked pretty good in 2007.

I know, completely different situation.

There's a vast difference between accuracy and truth. This statement is technically accurate, and couldn't be further from the truth.

If this team manages to finish with just two losses, I will be extremely proud of them even if it's not good enough for a championship game or playoff.

That's a bigger topic than I'm bringing up here though. I just think they deserve a little more recognition at the moment.

I thought this was a site for discussion, not pronouncements. I say you're wrong. So there, we're even.

For beating a previously 5-1 team (Kentucky) as well as beating a team that is otherwise 4-1 (Wisconsin). Florida wasn't pretty, but they only had one loss to Alabama when we beat them. Combined with what I said about the losses, that's a better resume than all but 15 or so other teams.
