How the refs choose to call this one will have a big impact on the game

I expect Venables' DB's to get VERY handsy with our WR's. If the refs let it slide all night it could be the difference in a couple TD's for Burrow

PAC 12 refs for the game. I'd like to think it'll be neutral.

Good. Our DBs can harass their receivers more
We have are actual D1 athletes, not high school ACC cornerbacks

That could work to our advantage since our DBs are the best group which Clemson receivers have faced, especially our corners.

How the team plays could have an even bigger impact.

So he will only throw for 4 instead of 6?

You mean like UGA did and when they got destroyed anyway?

This is the first LSU team that I have watched where I havent really even cared about the missed calls. Against OU there was a blatant facemask on Joey, a blatant holding on our WR...But when you are rolling like we are those things dont even matter.

Which is why Alabama fans can't understand why we always complain about the officials. In their eyes, they would win either way so it doesn't matter. But in the close games, those calls definitely matter and also can shift momentum and can lead to a larger score differential.
By the way, there were a bunch of Alabama fans complaining about the officiating in the LSU Alabama game this year. LOL

I think overall our secondary will be the best they have faced. That said, Ohio State fields an elite secondary as well. Okudah is going to be the first corner off the board for a reason

The only time I think there is legit REF bias is during the LSU-Bana game, and I don't think its a conscious thing anymore.
With that being said, even if a game is called neutral, it could still help one team more than the other. For instance if you are a physical team used to REFS "letting you play" and you get stuck with a crew that calls everything then you might have issues.
PAC1 has the reputation of not really being a physical conference so I'm guessing the REFS will be calling everything. But I don't have any stats to back this up... just a wild guess talking out my arse for the sake of conversation.

Big games = Let them play
they will call obvious interference but the hand checking will be allowed. I think that favors us bc their WRs are bigger than our CBs
Our WRs will be fine, they can't cover our guys no matter what they do

My team just did some research... below is the power 5 conferences listed by penalties called per game. Now I'm sure some of the non-conference opponents might not use refs from their own conference... maybe. But the amount of times that might have happened compared to the total amount of games would not effect the average much if any.
Conf...# penalties..Games..ave./gm.
----------------------------------------
BIG10 ... 976 ... 179 ... 5.453
SEC ..... 1087 .. 179 ... 6.073
BIG12 ... 782 ... 128 ... 6.109
ACC ..... 1119 .. 180 ... 6.217
PAC1 .... 984 ... 153 ... 6.431
So, it appears the PAC1 refs are the most penalty happy of the power 5. Adjust gameplay according.

Remember the SECCG. That was Georgia’s game plan and they got away with tons of defensive holding.
It mattered not.

ahh the unsung hero of SEC post season is no SEC refs.

I prefer they let them hand fight. That goes both ways.

I can't decide how this will play out. Pac12 may not have seen a lot of physical DB/WR play so they may call physical play as PI.
Or maybe the Big Game = Let them Play kicks in. I can see it both ways.
As long as it is consistent, I'm fine with either. Stingley doesn't need a lot of physical play to be in phase. I'm more worried about Vicent or Fulton.

When our offense has gotten called for holding or other things this year my reaction has been, "Cool, that's more passing yards for Burrow."

Pac-12 refs should be an advantage for us.
