On paper, LSU looks like they could beat nearly any team in the country.
On defense maybe. What are you basing this on? I'm pro Etling and i realize he's no superstar qb. OL has some experience but limited depth. Receiver corps is inexperienced.

Then there's guice.

I know exactly how we are going to attack them.

We find Waldo, and sick Guice and company on thier asses. There won't be just (1) Waldo in this game. I hear their S's are new so it will likely be in the pass game BUT you better believe we will find another Waldo in that LBing core of theirs with our RBs.

BYU will want to attack Guice when he's in there, so I would use him as a decoy, as often as possible, and as soon as they take their eyes off of him, bang bang bang, Guice takes it to the house.

Once they bring the safeties up to stop the RBs, I'm sending Chark, Davis, Gage, and Dillion out on go routes. Make Chark, Gage, Dillion break off to the outside, middle, and short, while letting Davis go long. If there is only (1) safety out there look out.

Can't wait to see a fast paced offense which attacks for 4 quarters. Never let up, which I don't think Canada will. I think he's going to say here's our offense, you go ahead and stop it. He said not long ago, in an interview, that he's got something for us, that he's going to give us something to watch. I'm pumped but realize that it's the first game so we'll see I guess.

Apparently their LBs are very good,

I think their best LB has been suspended for the year for having pre-marital sex.

I bet we attack them by using lots of motion and misdirection.

Brain dead fans we got here. How about this...can we have an adult discussion about how our OC should attack BYU's defense?

read what I wrote the first time smartass.
They have a game the week before, THUS there will be game film for us to watch and evaluate where to attack them. That's called strategy. They will be missing key players on defense as we already the freak know.
You are brain dead.

Based on 2016 Season

Rush YPG
LSU(232.1) vs BYU(112.8)

Pass YPG
LSU(195.8) vs BYU(261.2)

Scoring
LSU(27.8) vs BYU(20.6)

A lot has changed since last season, but based on last year, its strength against strength and weakness against weakness. If CMC's offense improves our passing, could be an area of BYU's defense the Tigers can exploit.

Yes, let's take a team we should physically dominate and run around them, speed up the game and minimize our advantage.

How about we use our new motion and get one of those safeties moving and shove it down their throat

LSU is going to do both run and pass. We are going to put lots of pressure on that team. Their fans really have no idea what's coming. They think Canada isn't much of an OC apparently because they expect mad confusion. To base your outcome on the fact that LSU will be screwing up tells you a lot. Our defense will likely cause easy situations for our offense in this game, between D and ST is what will help us to dominate the game even though it's the first and we are ironing out some wrinkles. No doubt we may have a few mistakes but this will be covered up by big plays as well. Our guys are just too good, so is our staff. LSU finally has the complete package. If we are having trouble slinging it, we have the ability to fix that too. We having trouble in the RZ we have a solution for that as well.

That is good except their first opponent is Portland State a not so good FCS school. The are naturally going to look good against them..
Just let Canada run his offense and the tigers will be fine. Remember this is not a power 5 school. Basically a Mountain West school with a little more talent. The LSU depth and speed will prevail.

What's the word on the Francis kid quitting. Your fan base seems freaked out because of it?

Sorry, busy weekend.

Sure, we wanted to see those three LBs play together again this year. Of the three Francis Bernard would be the weakest of the group.

#4 Fred Warner is the best player on the team regardless of position.

#38 Butch Pau'u is the soul of the defense and the tone setter.

#13 Francis Bernard would be spectacular one minute and befuddled the next. Losing him means we lose some of the highlight plays, but we also lose major gaffes like doubling the same gap and leaving another one wide open or missing a tackle within inches of the sideline where all you have to do is break down under control and use the sideline to your advantage.

It will be interesting to see the dynamic of a "bring your lunch pail" kid like Pulsipher and what he can do or whether the coaches will go with some of the young 4* talent they have waiting in the wings.

Bernard was a first time starter at LB last year after converting from RB. So it's not like kids can't be coached up by this staff to be ready to make plays.

All I know is: it's finally game week for BYU!

Here's an idea...how about we let our superior athletes do athletics things that they weren't allowed to do under Leslie Miles.

I predict Guice for 25-30 carries this game.

"this is not a power 5 school. Basically a Mountain West school with a little more talent."

You're pretty clueless and unfamiliar with BYU if you think that.

We're basically a mid-tier P5 school(our lack of P5 conference affiliation doesn't change that) and if you think you're offense is going to be hitting on all cylinders in game 1 with a brand new scheme, then I have some ocean-front property in Kazakhstan I can sell you. This will be one of the better defenses you'll face all season, even without our 3rd best linebacker.

We'll be rotating a 3 deep group of DT's to keep guys fresh and coming from training at 5k feet altitude, I think we'll be fine. Guice is the best runningback in the nation but that won't mean much if you don't have the OLine to actually wear down teams. We've got some big, physical Tongans on our DL and they are feisty.

Go back and watch the highlights of the 2008 Sugar Bowl when Utah beat Alabama. Sitake and our DC Tuiaki recruited and coached those players.

Another note, with the spread offense, you had better find a way to stay on that field with sustained drives most of the game or you're defense will spend most of it on the field getting gassed. And from hearing about your QB and WR struggles *with drops) its looking like sustained drives will be harder to come by, meaning your defense better be prepared to be spending more of the game on the field.

If you are going back to 9 years, can we go back a few to when the one time you played an Aranda defense who held you to 6 points with Utah state talent?

Mid tier P12? no Utah is mid tier and they have only beaten you six years in a row.

Your last win against a top 25 team outside of Provo was not in this decade.

Your rightful spot is somewhere south of Boise State who have take. 5 of 7 against you (thank goodness for your Hail Mary a few years back).

Your linebackers are undersized and your best pass rusher is more known for stealing women's clothes

That comparison would be valid if Robert Anae was still our offensive coordinator and we were still running the ROSO spread offense. Our offense is designed to slow down the game and if we can move the chains and get keep your offense out of rhythm, you're defense is going to be spending alot of time on that field sucking wind. THink of all those times where Stanford popped Oregon in the mouth.
