re: How obvious has it been for the last 5 or so years of Miles' stubbornness...

Head coaching record
First 7 years was 41-15 in conference. (63%)
Last 5 years was 21-13 in conference. (38%)
Even your trying to slant it to make it seem like he was awesome cannot change the math. He was done.

Miles got by on the talent level of the players- we struggled in games we should have beaten the crap out of our opponents; this happened again & again!! Pathetic coaching!! Need I mention his clock management as well!!

I struggled to figure out how Miles convinced receivers and pass-catching TEs to sign.
It wasn't Miles, it was the house that Saban built that was the attraction.
Don't you remember, some fans were claiming it wasn't Saban who recruited those star athletes, it was LSU.

Saban certainly helped LSU's rise back to prominence but it's false that he was the only attraction.
The 5 years he was here our average class ranking was 10
The 5 years after he left our average class ranking was 8
These past 5 years (post 2011) our average class ranking has been 6.2.

Ehh, Saban signs brees and Les has at least one more, prob two titles and is considered the goat.

Yet the best run of recruiting came 10 years after saban. While he was winning titles at a division rival.
But honestly, Miles haters always said anyone can recruit at LSU. Don't know why Saban gets so much praise or even a pass if that were true.

Couple stick out. It's what happens when you watch 130+ games of someone. I haven't watched much NFL this season. But the clock management the past couple was atrocious by many coaches.
Point is, you watch enough games, you see clock blunders. This isn't something that only happens to Miles.

Yes and no. If I was a four star Mike LB and 5 schools had equal need for me, My playing time would be high at all my freshman year, and all other things were equal, LSU would be a no brainer since I was raised a fan.
If LSU had 3 LB's from each class waiting for playing time, I would be foolish to go there and possibly never get any playing time.
These kids want to end up in the league and will go where they have the best chance.

Saban may have improved on the recruiting foundation laid by Dinardo, but Miles certainly took recruiting to a higher level than any LSU coach before him. Was it time for Miles to leave? Certainly. 20 years from now, we will all recognize just how phenomenal his time at LSU was.

We gave him a Ferrari and he didn't change the oil, ran it off the road and everybody who matters knows this
Saban's tenure= 16 losses 12 conf
2 top 15 finishes
Last 5 years everyone loves to bitch about= 15 losses 12 conf losses
3 top 15 losses.
So id really love for you to explain the math you used to come up with hiw miles inherited some great ferrari type program. We had 1 top 5 finish in over 2 decades.
But hey dont let facts get in the way of you posting ignorant shite.

They cant understand this. Sports illustrated just did a 4 page story on clock mismanagement in the nfl and how it happens to even the best nfl coach on numerous occasions.

quote:I don't think Coach Miles ever really understood his team was capable of far more than just running on antiquated philosophies and talent alone. I think the team knew they were capable of more. I can see clearly in the interim period that CEO, his DC and OC knew they could do more, and it immediately showed. Except for Bama and Florida, LSU was unbeatable, and even so, Bama barely managed to score, and we had a CLM relapse versus UF and that showed, too. Mostly A level play from A level players.
Miles had A level resources and put forth C level strategies as to not fully utilize those resources.
And another real key is this: Conversely, if you have a C level (say 2 or 3 star player) and coach them up to 4 or 5 star performances on the field. If CEO can do that, he'll be doing something CLM never quite perfected in his entire 11+ years at LSU. And LSU will be all the stronger for it.

It's funny after Sabans failed tenure at LSU he got an NFL job then the best job in college football. Who has gone after Miles since his historic run at LSU? Why didn't Texas or Oregon snatch him up as quick as they could? Why Arnt any NFL teams beating down his door? Why didn't Houston hire him why is he still jobless?

2011 never happens without the Honey Badger...
Other than 2011, from 2008 through this year, on average, LSU was basically an also ran. The 10 win seasons in 2010, 12 and 13 were better on paper than reality.

Who said it was failed?
Miles is 63. Was saban 63 when he left lsu?
Are you under the assumption that im in any way saying miles is a better coach than Saban?

bullshite. If thats the case lsu has been an also ran 85% of its entire history. Before miles we had 21 top 15 finishes lsu history.

Not only honey badger but what happens if jj doesn't get in trouble and he starts the season at qb instead of lee? We lose to Miss st. And West Virginia without a doubt and probly Oregon too.
