Five years from now someone will rediscover the power run game and shift some of this back.

This is why we must have an effective run game or teams will all run the 3-1-7 or 3-2-6 against us. As CEH showed, an effective run game beats this scheme.

To duplicate what we just witnessed a team needs a very smart QB who can throw or run, a versatile TB who is a tough inside runner who can catch, a fleet of grade A WRs and a TE who can block and catch. And you need a good OL.

It’s not all about Xs and Os. Our cast of Jimmy Joes was remarkable. I don’t think it will be duplicated any time soon.

I suggest listening to the interview Dave Aranda gave on OTB this morning. Better than anyone, he gave a glimpse into what made the LSU offense so potent and also how defenses are going about slowing down these offensive juggernauts.

Playcalling, tempo, and execution have a lot to do with our success.

Anybody and everybody can copy the game plan. If they don't have the talent to make it happen, it will look like Oklahoma, Baylor, WV and all the others.

The talented players at LSU made the system we ran look like pros against high schoolers

It's exactly the opposite. Had he quickly promoted from within, I'd have been concerned. He gets how important this hire is.

Adjust? How much did defenses adjust to Tua? Clemson QBs torched Bama 3 times running the same offense. It's all about the QB and our skill players on O vs their D talent. Auburn's DL was the one elite DL we played and they held us to 23. Of course that LSU team then wasn't the final product that crushed defenses like UGA and Clemson who supposedly also had great DLs (not elite).

A spread offense with elite talent is the scariest thing in CFB. I had been preaching this forever on here when many were against spread and dual threats (and you know who you are). We'll keep the skill players coming, we just need to keep the QBs coming.

The two things I think were innovative in the college game:
1. Flexing out the rb and tight end wide to reveal coverages
2. Wide receivers having the options to choose cutting inside or outside based on leverage.

There are a bunch of teams that run similar offenses. Not very many have 3 elite receivers, a very good tight end and running back, and statistically the best qb ever running the offense.

I've never seen Drew make run/pass decisions at the mesh point with Kamara or Murray. Taysom, yes. Sometimes he hands it off, sometimes he keeps it himself and sometimes he pulls it and passes.

QB doesn’t have to be able to keep it himself for it to be a run/pass option

You have to have the right athletes to run it, and you have to have the right athletes to stop it. Venables knew what to do, he just wasn't able to do it.
