I think O sinks the program no matter the OC

It’s the unknown and lack of success on record of our current OC that has me uneasy.
the Ems hire is so bad that it will have been a bad idea even if it works. people say cutesy bullshite like "a dumb idea isnt dumb if it works", but yes it fricking is. you could slow your car down by tapping the brakes or by putting it in Park; both ideas will work, one is very clearly dumb.

point being, Ems record as an OC was average at best, and that was a hundred years ago. there is simply no valid professional reason for a program like LSU to roll the dice on him.

I hope to hell hes amazing, and that O and Miles saw what we dont, but god damn, it seems like we have WAY too much at stake right now, we are WAY too close to a crossroads, there could not have been a worse time for this shite.

this. Canada was considered the top OC available in the country when he was hired yet I am much more confidant and excited that he is gone and Ensminger is back running the offense. I feel a lot more optimistic with Ensminger at the helm.

say what you want about his experience but he just seems to know what he is doing. I guess we will find out soon enough. I just see him as a big upgrade over Canada and much better fit for LSU. I liked what he did with not a lot of time to really change things when took over the offense in 2016 and what he was able to do in a short period of time working out of someone else playbook.

I am looking forward to seeing what we will be able to do now that he has had a whole offseason and two camps to install the offense that seemed to be a collaborative effort n creating working with some very sharp offense minds.

I’d be more confident in the OC if I had any confidence in the HC

No. They didn't. They may say they did but they're lying. O said Einsminger would be a great candidate after the A&M game.

O straight up said that Tee Martin called and asked for an interview and O said no, he had his guy.

honestly, this is probably going to be the best offense we can have considering the level of trust that O has in Ensminger. O crippled the offense of Canada last season because he didn't trust him. This year, he'll likely give E full reigns on the offense because he trusts him, so we shouldn't see any of O putting his hands on the offense this year like it should be.

He trusts him to do what he says, even if it’s the wrong thing. It’s a recipe for disaster.

O didnt meet with anyone. there wasnt even a search.

that approach is how you get Peveto at DC, not Aranda. Miles himself said as much, that Aranda wasnt even on his radar until interviewing other coaches.

He racked up a lot of yards against some of the worst defenses college football had to offer in 2016. So what.

I'm not saying he can't do a good job, but what he did accomplish against those putrid defenses two years ago don't mean squat now.

Not that much. Still don't know what we have at QB and Running Back. According to all reports we have very large talented receivers who have spent fall camp dropping a lot more passes than they catch and Dandy Don rated the offensive line slightly worse than last last year. If the last one turns out true it wont matte who's at quarterback or who's calling the plays.

I’d be more excited/optimistic if people like you would quit posting speculative and theoretical crap like this. Let’s give this dynamic young team a chance for crying out loud. Quit hand-wringing and finding new ways to complain about our football program.

I don't doubt that Ensminger has the aptitude for the job. I'm just highly apprehensive of how well someone that had to be convinced to take the job can be expected to perform. It's a grind for anyone, much less someone that wasn't chomping at the bit for the opportunity.

Everything I said was a fact that is absolutely left open ended. I'm not hand ringing. I'm answering the question. This offense has questions at almost every position because of a lack of playing time. That's just a fact. Ensminger is not the end all be all question mark. This whole offense hasn't even written the first page of what it will or could end up being. If that's not a wait and see answer to the question then there isn't one except let's wait and see.

This. The people that act like E can't install an offense are hilarious.

i have no doubt that every offensive coach could do that, but how good would it be? we basically just have to hope Ems has been some secret and overlooked savant this whole time, and for the life of me I simply have no idea why we would do that.
