I say one more after this year. How is he any better than Gene Chizik. I honestly don't see a difference. Remember, Chizik went 14=0 and then went 8-5 which would be this year for Oeaux and we may be lucky to go 4-6 and before you start defending Oeaux and say this is a Covid-19 year and didnt have any tune up games. Looking around, I believe MSU, VAndy and Mizzou should have been tune up games. Then Chizik went 3=9 and I believe 0-7 n the SEC and was fired. If we continue on this present path which eerily reminds me of the Hallman team that went 2-9 and only had victories that year over get this MIssissippi State and Tulane and we finisht 2-8 or even 4-6 and then follow up that with another down year, then please explain to me why he should still have a job coaching LSU?

He shouldn't but will. The buyout of Miles plus the first contract of O was not that much compared to the contracts we are on the line for now.

1. Biggest blowout loss to Auburn in program history, wait and see against Bama and Florida, but more than likely those will be historic blowouts as well so no.
2. Who are the losses to? pretty much everyone.
3. Talent being wasted? bigtime yes.
4. Definitely not being coached up but rather coached down.

quote:yea, it's a different year. But Bama's not taking a mulligan. Or Clemson. Or Ohio State. Or Notre Dame. Or Florida. Or Georgia. Or A&M. Or most of the other teams.
This year is a mulligan. It’s a dumb year. Everything is off.
The excuse-making on this board is frightening.

It should have bought him 4 but if this year continues to go this way, this will count as 2-3 grace period years. As long as he wins 9 next year, he’ll be fine for 2022. But 2-8 this year and 8-5 next year might do it.

Buyout is way too much. Like, by a large, large margin.
What changed since 2016??

2 more????
We haven’t had a losing season since 1999. If he has another one next year it’s GTFO time

Based purely on the numbers, I think O is here at least thru the 2022 season. The fan base may want him gone well before that, but I don’t think there’s any way LSU buys out O for over $15-20 mil. Orgeron’s buyout does not drop below $15mil until after the 2022 season.
God help us if we can’t get this train back on the tracks in 2021 season.
It is worth noting for future reference that O’s buyout is not lump-sum unless they negotiate it at that time. Per contract, it would be monthly installments over the contract duration.

Orgeron's buyout equals out to 70% of the salary remaining on the entire contract. If LSU were to terminate Orgeron's contract in the first year (2020) his buyout would be about $27 million; in the second year (2021), about $21 million; in the third (2022), $16.8 million; in the fourth (2023), $12.6 million; in the fifth (2024), $8.4 million; and in the final year (2025), $4.2 million.
