Naz and Tremont are locks I think.

Smart and EW have potential.

The rest I doubt make it. Still an awesome team regardless.

Waters, Reid, Smart

I think that’s it although you never know with guys like Brandon Sampson getting 2-way contracts. It’s much easier to make the NBA now because of those.

Naz is a sure thing.
Javonte is a sure thing I think
Tremont will get a shot
Kavell could get a spot for his defense/rebounding
Days could develop into one
Emmitt will need to develop a better mid range game
Marlon is still so raw so he could get there with his athleticism
Mays will go to med school

Definite? Probably only Naz. Tremont has the talent undoubtedly but it's always tough for a sub 6 foot guy to carve out a career in the league. Smart ,Bigby-Williams, Mays, and Days all have promising qualities but have some developing to do. Emmitt is a great and hard-working player but he's still so undersized for a post player. If he can develop some guard skills a la Draymond he could be valuable to a team. And Marlon is just super raw as a player right now. Tons of athleticism but no real skill set. If he can develop a jumper he could be a "Three and D" type wing in the league.

Don't sleep on Taylor. He's definitely not a lock, but I can see him potentially making a roster.

If Marlon Taylor continues to progress his offensive skill set, he could be on a roster for a long time.

He's got a good looking stroke, has good size for a wing, is a great defender, and obviously is an absolutely elite athlete.

Waters

Waters is a good college player. IMO, he is not NBA level at any position, size or skill. That's not saying he can't play maybe in the Gatorade league, or overseas. But he isn't going into the NBA.

With the premium on shooting these days in the NBA, I think Tremont will at minimum get a look or two in the Association and play for someone.

I could see Mays getting some run on a bad team down the line. He’s got the size, intangibles, and the handles. Will be interesting if he just says screw trying though and becomes a doctor.

Mays will give his full effort into trying to be a pro basketball player and rightfully so. He's a big very athletic combo guard with good vision and a streaky jumpshot. He can play in the NBA with some work. He may try med school years from now when his playing days are clearly over but he isn't gonna pass up a chance to play in the NBA. Doctors average around $300K a year after 4 years of med school and 3 years of residency. The minimum salary in the NBA is over $500K. Role players can make over $10 mil a year easy. He has a legit chance to play in the league and he will and should go for it.

The NBA minimum salary for a rookie is $582,000. Mays would be crazy to turn down a chance at that. Even if only makes a roster for a year or two, that more than pays for med school. Med school isn't going anywhere - he can do that after giving the NBA a shot.

Yes, but you’re assuming Mays gets a rookie deal from a team from day 1. He could just as easily have to work his way up through the G League with no guarantees after being brought in as an UDFA for camps.

yes, that's my assumption. If he can't make a roster, I'd pass on the G League (unless he wants to try it for a year) and get on with med school.

But my point was that he should try to make a roster, not just bail and go to med school.

The answer to your question depends on what your definition of "NBA player" is

Are we talking someone who signs a 2 way contract and plays a couple games in their NBA career? Or someone who is an actual consistent member of a team's rotation?

Med school is a huge investment of time and money and that’s not including what it takes to get in. His GPA looks nice but he recently switched from biology to kinesiology, which makes it more difficult to get in. Not to mention we don’t know his science GPA which matters much more than overall (probably inflated due to easy classes/academic advantages for athletes). Also, at some point he’s gotta take and do well on the MCAT, which typically would overlap with the season.

This isn’t to say he can’t or won’t get in, and his experience as a high level college athlete will certainly look very good on an application. It’s just to say that med school isn’t gonna be some easy ride, it’s a huge life decision and I’d imagine if he gets a shot at the NBA he’d certainly play that out first.
