I was thinking it through and was curious how many of these guys came in after Miles left?

Burrow
Jefferson
Chaisson
Delpit
Phillips
Lewis
Clyde
Queen

Fulton was Miles. Sullivan. Ferguson. Lawrence. Cush.

First class from O had 4 first rounders and this class didn’t include Burrow. Wow!

You do realize O was on Miles staff as recruiting coordinator?

I’m not trying to discredit O. I just think it’s an even more awesome talking point for O to say his first real class set the draft record.

Ah I thought this might be one of those, "yeah but he won with Miles players" threads.

Coach O was the coach when they left so they were all Coach O's players.

But Aleva didn't even bother to interview other names...

Every single one is an LSU Tiger. Calling a player O’s or CLM’s is petty.

Clyde was a Miles recruit. Not sure about the rest.

Orgeron deserves a great deal of credit for being a great recruiter, but the recruiting coordinator doesn't decide who gets scholarship offers. That's the call of the head coach.

I think Orgeron deserves a lot of credit for evaluating and recruiting, but a great deal of LSU'S success is because Orgeron and his staff are exceptional at developing players once they get on campus.

All I was trying to highlight is how good O was if his first real class put this many players in the league.

Any player that left after 3 years would have been the class that signed right after he got the job.

I edited the OP. Four first round picks from first class. Class also included Delpit, Phillips, and Charles outside of first round. 7 players drafted from a class where he was hired mid season. Pretty wild.

Marshall might make that 5.

Ooops, wrong class. Candidates would be Brennan and Shelvin.

All of them. He has been the head coach of the football team for 3 full seasons not counting that he was on staff before and became the head coach For 3/4’a of another season.

Just like the ‘07 team was Miles’s players. I don’t care who recruits them when you spend 3 years with the same coach you are his players. You have taken on that coaches identity by then.
