This was grabbed from a tweet I saw earlier (which was pulled from info from USA Today and the Knight Commission) regarding alumni donations to athletic programs.

Considering how poor some here think we are, I thought our ranking on this list was worth noting. It’s about where I expected.
Who has the most generous athletics boosters?

I am a little surprised by this.

For $618 million over that length of time we have a lot of championships to show for it, but facilities are ancient.

I just can’t for the life of me think that is an annual reoccurring commitment.
No way we scrounge up 600 Mil a year.

That was cumulative from 05-22.

For a poor state, we rank pretty good.
Posted on 8/23/23 at 4:27 pm to brtiger77
It’s not. Read the OP. Total CUMULATIVE.
That’s means all added up together. Over about 17 years.
Reading comprehension has gone to shite.

Texas A & M $849 million
It cost $483,888,855 to renovate and expand Kyle Field. Manziel raised that money in an instant and the project was done in less than 2 years. Amazing.

I was too. I would expect Ok St to drop off over time with their sugar daddy having passed on.
As a Memphis fan as well, I was surprised to see them at the top of G5 at 50, ahead of Cincy, Houston and UCF and a couple of P5s. They really need to be promoted to the Big 12 or a reformed PAC, if that happens.

Without looking, I guessed 7 or 8. We're not poor by any means, we're just not super rich. On the other hand, we will spend the money in this area whereas alot of places won't. It's just how we were raised, we love a good party, but it's only a good party if everybody's having a good time, and we don't mind being generous to make sure everyone does. (If that analogy makes sense, it does to me)

People that think LSU doesn’t have deep pocket boosters are really ignorant. Lots of old money that lays low. Especially from oil. The modern day personal injury attorneys are just the flashiest

Despite what you might read on the OT, there’s a ton of money in LA.
LA is a great state to live if you’re rich and don’t give a damn about things like public schools. It’s the middle class that is taking it up the rear here.
Not to mention the alumni nationally.

Crazy to think that $200M of this was for their track, Hayward Field. And another 230M on Matthew Knight Arena.

That surprised me as well, but I think he made a huge one time donation when they renovated their stadium. That's probably keeping them hanging around the top of these lists.

That and I really think it’s about the experience you have when you are associated with the university. I went to LSU. It was a great 4 years and I don’t mind giving back so I can continue to enjoy it when I do go back for events and so can my kids and others around the state.

As a highly successful importer/exporter I’d imagine you’ve donated millions over the years.

Homegrown talent level in Louisiana balances the scales in our favor in my opinion.

Does this include my student loans?

Oh you didn't hear? He gave up on the exporting so he could just focus on the importing.
