I think it stands for decades. It’s hard to get that many first downs, because you almost can’t have many big plays. And any team giving up that much is very likely to start surrendering big plays.

A while IMO, it means the big plays were limited, and I think we get tougher defenses, and more efficient

Ole Miss tied the SEC record of most first downs in SEC history with 41 in 2021.
In 2021 they generated 41 first downs in a victory over Tulane tying the current record that was held by Missouri playing Tennessee in 2016.
