In 2007 LSU change the retired Jersey rule, by law, whatever. A retired jersey does not stop a current player from wearing a number.

Hey u win a heisman, retire the damn number. All else they honor the name and number. LSU better do it fast as possible, no waiting period.
Brooks just needs a new number next year like 7.

Don’t you have to graduate from LSU to have your number retired? I feel like I’ve heard something similar before.

Retire it now. Delpit has to find another number for playoffs

Man, wouldn't it be cool if the Alabama 2020 game lined up with his pro bye week???
You win the Heisman, your jersey is retired immediately and you hire a sculptor. Billy Cannon did not live to see his statue unveiled. That is sad and should NEVER happen again.

It is stupid to retire a # when you can just retire the jersey.
Would you turn down a 5 star recruit because he couldn't have his favorite number?
There are some recruits that trivial.

Joe is in the process of getting his masters from LSU.

This may be a silly question but how does a jersey get retired without the number on the jersey also getting retired?

In a heartbeat.
Would you disrespect the legacy of Dr. Cannon by letting some 18-year-old primadonna wear #20? Is our program that desperate for talent after 126 years?

I say, change Marcel Brooks to another number for the bowls, and that way, Joe Borrow will be the last player to ever wear #9.
