We didn't handle the blitz well at all
arkansas saw on film the best way to beat LSU is to blitz crazy and not give daniels a pocket. denbrock also didn't scheme for this not giving the offense quick passes to offset the blitz.
kirby smart would be wise to duplicate this scheme.

think it had a lot to do with Denbrock’s play calling. But JD5 didn’t look great, yeah
Agree. Could not understand, with the amount of pressure they were bringing, that we threw no screen passes (to RB’s or WRs) and completely forgot we have quality pass receiving TEs.

Arkansas had a very active defensive line and sent an extra guy almost every play. Combine that with a gameplan that was almost exclusively downfield passes and you get a lot of pressure and a qb that never looked comfortable.

Likely not the whole reason but he mentioned the cold. Some people just don't do well in it.

Thin-skinned? How so?
OP was one of the loudest critics of Daniels and was convinced that he wouldn’t be able to compete against SEC defenses.
Now here we are, in November, with the division clenched, and he’s back to being “concerned” about QB play.
Daniels had a rough game. Reports are that he was sick, no idea if that’s true. What I do know is that it was an 11 AM kick on the road, in freezing weather, a week after a huge win. And we won the game.
Odds are pretty good that we lose to UGA. But I don’t think we even get a chance to play UGA if we don’t have Daniels this year. I think it’s a little ridiculous that we have folks coming out of the woodwork to say “I told you so” when those same folks were predicting that we would only win 4 games this year with Daniels as QB.

You can’t keep a good idiot down my friend.

We didn't handle the blitz well at all. He had someone in his face on every drop back it seems.
That was just a few times. Most of the time he had >5 seconds, which seemed like eternity. I noticed that his receivers just stop their routes and stand there.

He had WRs open the whole game. Lots of 5 to 7 yrd passes open. I think he had a hard time gripping the ball. A cold ball won't compress much.
Hogs had 2 or 3 guys assigned to him most of the game, which left a lot of single coverage. Some of that could have ben Denbrock. They should have taken what the Hogs gave. I think there was low energy on the field. It just wasn't a productive day for JD. On the other hand, Perk and Williams had plenty of energy.

I mean Our OL also played a pretty awful game.
Chalk it up to Bama Hangover, fly, 11 am start. I’m not worried.

He isn't a very good passer, he never throws a receiver open or hit them in stride. They usually have to slow down to catch the ball thrown behind them.
These are facts, not opinion.
They forced him to try to beat them with his arm. He CAN run. He is fast. But when the defense takes away his option to tuck-and-run, he is not a very good quarterback.

It happens. Lots of factors caused it. even Joey B had a not great game against Auburn in 2019.

His instincts are to hold it until he sees a WR open. Against Zone, that's harder. He regressed this week.
My theory is he was told to stay in the pocket more and work on his throwing this game. I don’t think we expected Arkansas to play that aggressive on defense. We never adjusted from this. If you go back and watch that game compared to the other games where he looked good in, he stayed in the pocket far more often in this game. He is not a pocket passer and I don’t know that he ever will be.
