If a football player was in a calculus class, he was probably smart. That's not a required course and certainly not a course that football players just trying to stay eligible take. I know plenty of people good at math that could pass sleeping through class. It's not like a lecture where if you're snoozing you can't get the information needed to pass a test. College really isn't that hard. A lot of it is just showing up and actually studying when you have a test.

He must have failed summer session or is appealing it. I remember them talking like he had to bring up his gpa in summer session to play this season. You would think he is out the season though unless he is counting on an appeal or waiting on a grade or something.

No way, O has no idea which players are going to class or not.

If this is true then he is doing an even worse job of managing the team off the field that we thought. They absolutely know who is going to class and who isn’t. They have people on staff whose job it is to go to classes and make sure they are there.

That should be true. But this is Ed Orgeron’s program.

Would it honestly shock you if he had no idea who is going to class or not.

This is the same guy who hired a washed up DC without even interviewing him and admitted it publicly.

No dereliction of duty from Ed would shock me

Thanks. I’m glad to hear that. I tried to take a calculus class later in life and just couldn’t do it- even with two tutors. One taught Tebow at Nease HS when he spent some time there (or needed some help at home).

The fact it’s “academic” and “week to week” means he got caught cheating in some form or fashion and it’s under review

Maybe, could be a class he got some sort of extension in and has an incomplete pending an exam or project he has to turn in.

If it was grades he wouldn’t have a chance to become eligible until the end of this semester

Outside chance it is some qualified online course to make up his credit hours and the grade was delayed for some reason.

All in all, you theory seems as, if not more, plausible though. I hope he returns.

IF you fail a calculus class, you’re not trying. Either you’re not going to class, doing homework problems, or just get high and DGAF

They give those athletes everything imaginable to assist with obtaining a degree.

I imagine they’re still using the system to evaluate all student athletes for learning disabilities which I helped establish when I was a grad student there. Everyone who needs accommodations should be able to get them.

If you have academic issues preventing you from playing at LSU with all the resources and help they give you to pass, you just don't care.

I have friend that says, either you don’t care or you’re stupid. I think that applies here

Every SA gets screened from day 1. It takes serious commitment to become academically ineligible

This, too, is a roster management issue.
Most coaches manage it without this many casualties.

Emery has to be the biggest let down I can think of in last 5 years. Really thought this kid would come in and compete for some playing time as a freshman. With his performances on and off the field at this point I’d say it’s time to cut bait.

If his dumbass cant figure school out by now then cut bait and go to the freshmen. He’s been a bust so far anyway.
