re: How is "Coach O being one of us" relevant to winning games?

Which one was a more successful HC? Think about this simple question longer so you don't reply with mental garbage.

You call fired mid season a successful job effort?
Posted on 10/20/16 at 6:25 am to Brazos
Being from "here" or "one of us" might be a benefit with recruiting Louisiana talent, but should not be a requirement in any way.
Skip Bertman was neither and that worked out OK.
Nick Saban was not and the rest is history.

Are you blocking out Strong's history at Louisville from your tiny brain?
Posted on 10/20/16 at 6:27 am to Futures Bleak
it has 0 affect. it just so happens that he's played an awful Mizzou and Southern Miss team.
Beat Ole Miss and Bama and then we will see how much he's "one of us"

Facts: Orgeron has no evidence of being a successful HC

Seems like Herman is no longer a desirable candidate as he once was

you're willing to go all the way back to a positional coaching job but skip over his only actual experience running a program full-time?
Posted on 10/20/16 at 6:42 am to Paul Allen
O is a better recruiter than Herman or Strong.
Plus he's from here. I think he will do fine.

Orgeron coached at Miami under Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson when Miami was dominant and won a few national championships.
As a DL coach

And then ten years later did the same at USC under Pete Carroll.
As a DL coach...man thats some serious growth there, 10 years later and still at the same position
quote:
Strong coached at Florida under Meyer, with two National Championship teams.
As the DC (something no one has ever trusted O to do BTW)

Successful? Fired mid season is what you call successful?
You are either too stupid to remember that he was the coach at Louisville before Texas or you know it doesnt fit your argument
he took a Louisville team that had 3 straight losing or .500 seasons and had only won 4 games the year before he got there and went
2010 7-6
2011 7-6
2012 11-2
2013 12-1
That's growth and way more than Coach O has ever done as a HC

You do realize he hasnt even been fired yet, right tiny brain?

Good lord, hiring a coach that is going to fired mid season. That would be a disaster.

something that he doesnt need to be the HC to accomplish is the reason that you fricks want him as head coach

Plus he's from here
The only reason yall want him, but try to hide it with other BS excuses like the one above "he is a great recruiter".

You are already finished with this season? Give it a break, LSU has five games to play. Worry about who your boyfriend will be in January if you need to worry about anything

I have stated numerous times, his resume is more important than his birth certificate and right NOW his resume is not that great.
Are we really sold on a coach that went 6-2 as a part time coach at USC and only won 9 games at Ole Miss in 3 years.

Anything short of an SEC title and he shouldn't be in the top 3. LSU has a lot of talent and can't afford to screw this hire up.
Wow. Which of your top three have won a SEC title?
Posted on 10/20/16 at 7:13 am to Futures Bleak
Including you. The majority of posts point out first he needs to 1. Beat Bama. 2. Finish no worse than 3-2 or 4-1 with a close competitive loss to the gumps to be considered. The he is one of us crowd simply enjoy the connection to our culture that no other outsider will ever have. You are obviously not a part of it so frick off. He you are and don't embrace then frick off twice.

I would much rather a proven hire but if he wins out he deserves a shot.
Coach O being 'one of us' is not relevant as far as long term success is concerned. What I do like about Coach O though is that he seems to understand exactly what the issues were under Miles and wants to fix them. However, I do not think that necessarily means he is the long term answer for this program. Keeping the team and coaching staff together after the head coach has been fired is a different animal than sustaining long term success at a program. If he does win out, I do think he has earned a chance as head coach though.
