Definitely. Maybe #1.

Never realized Bill Russell was born in West Monroe.

Yea if we are just doing born in Louisiana then you can add Elvin Hayes and Clyde Drexler. They both moved out before they started high school.

he was smooth. reminded me alot of carmello anthony. whereas he could score points in bunches, but you never really realized it. before you blink he had 30 and you never knew how he got it.
watched him play one time, and i left the gym thinking he had about 15 points. but he actually scored 40.

Mike Krzyzewski said he was the best high school player he’d ever seen.

So there’s that.

I watched him play in high school a few times and he made it look easy.

He also made everyone else better. I remember one of the early season games where we destroyed the LSU team, single game assist record. Everyone wanted to get in on the action dishing to each other.

The best basketball player to come out of Louisiana was Bob Petit. He was All American, All NBA and led his team to an NBA championship. He became the prototype for a power forward in the NBA.

Not meaning to derail, but these comments made me start thinking about it. Pistol, Shaq and Jackson were all from out of State. Petit was from Baton Rouge. Robert Parish was from Shreveport, he's up there. What other greats were from in state? Benoit Benjamin was from Monroe but he's more 2nd tier.

Karl Malone obviously.
