Teams like ND and Marquette have good players. No question. But LSU's poor efforts on defense were allowing the good shooters to get great looks. That's a recipe for disaster.

while I agree, the lone game where lsu was just blown out was Notre Dame on a neutral court. But, since it hasn't happened again, we can elude to that loss being a fluke...a fluke due to dampened spirits from a potentially bad injury to one of their leaders in Brandon Sampson. Sampson has yet to return to early season form, and the one time he played more minutes was the UK game. And, he was again a difference maker in that game.

So...not only does the ND loss not hurt considering how good ND is, but it does not define this team in the slightest.

No one should bring it up again.

It's heading in the right direction finally and that's all that matters at this point.

But it will be brought up again if LSU struggles defensively later in SEC play which i believe will happen. Maybe for only for 1 or 2 games and they might win one of the games but thats just college basketball.

The Memphis game was atrocious considering how badly we were out-rebounded. But, Reath and LSU responded to that game with an outstanding effort vs UK.

Arkansas is one of the best scoring teams in the nation, period. LSU just embarrassed them on their own court. A team that was averaging over 80 points per game was limited to 54 points.

This LSU team is really good and getting better

It wasn't a fluke. LSU was absolutely horrible on defense that night as well as the next night vs. Marquette. Wade said as much himself. The difference has been the commitment on the defensive end since those games and LSU has been steadily improving. They were ranked in the 250's in defensive efficiency not too long ago. After last night they made a huge jump to 116. Still not great, but much, much better.

If you defend and rebound you have a chance to win anywhere. If you defend, rebound, and are efficient on offense like LSU has been all season, then you have a chance to win A LOT of games.

lsu caught a HUGE break. a&m has a little turmoil and ark just isn't playing good right now (neither is bama btw).

as of now, espn's bpi has LSU AN 11 SEED. i seriously cannot believe the turnaround wade has produced. i realize the tigers probably won't end up making the tourney but to be in the discussion at this point is basically miraculous

While I agree we caught aTm at the right time and we played poorly, you have to believe that LSU winning at Arkansas was different than that game...

Ark has been the type of team to go 8-0 at home and 2-6 on the road... That's been their mantra for years and years. Winning there cannot be lumped in with an aTm victory against 40% of their starters.

How we have played the first three SEC games has made me believe my low expectations (6-12 in SEC, 15-15 overall) for this team MIGHT be off.

Things that are making me re-evaluate

1. The big improvement in our perimeter defense and D in general.

2. Our composure on the road as an underdog.

3. The developing ability of Tre to distribute the ball while we are on O. He is 100% better at that than he was in December and he was good at that in December!

Now I am waiting to see how we play versus Bama and UGA at home these next two games. IF we can win these two games, we can contend for an NCAA Ty berth.

I, as a season ticket holder since 1976, an VERY excited about what WW is doing at LSU.

Op is so ignorant. Arky was second best offensive team in sec. yet he says but what happens when we play auburn and Florida. You literally know nothing about basketball apparently.

Screw trying to handicap this team. As long as they play like they did last night I will be in heaven. They are just a joy to watch! They are a TEAM like I never thought I would see again at LSU. They share the ball, hustle, play defense and even seem to like each other. This is the type of basketball I will support forever no matter what the numbers at the end of the season say. But guess what, you play like this and the numbers take care of themselves.

ark is not playing good basketball regardless of the location. having said that, the tigers did exactly what they should - take advantage. and it showed in the final score. if ark were playing well, it could have been a good game and the tigers might have come out on the short end.

this is what i'm most impressed with. it requires everyone functioning together as a unit and having good chemistry. offense - one player can take over. just look at bama and sexton.

i still think the biggest hurdle is post depth and as feb rolls on, this will become a factor. epps and reath are logging a lot of minutes and i wonder if they're going to get worn down from the grind. losing combs is going to hurt bad in the long run.

That's just not true...

They beat Tennessee in their last home game. Tennessee is a top 25 team. They have beat everyone else at home by a large sum.

Kenpom stats have Bud Walton Arena as the 6th toughest place to play. One does not just walk out of Bud Walton with a victory...

I've been going to practice regularly and our defensive improvement is obvious to anyone who pays attention. I picked them to struggle to get to .500 before the season and I think that was low. They have a chance to win 10/11 games if they continue to ride Waters in the half court and rotate on D as they have been. Wades staff at practice are animals and its finally getting through.

Arkansas may have had the second best offense in the SEC, but they arent a top 3 team in the SEC so how does that exactly equate.... LSU played good defense last night.... but they arent gonna play perfect every night against everyone. Their struggles will be on the defensive end rather than the offensive end. Team is getting use to playing defense but it isnt their identity yet.

And guess who is the best offense and 3rd best.....

Auburn and Florida.

Sit down young blood. If you are gonna say someone doesn't know basketball make sure you know it first

1. tenn has been inconsistent.
2. ark is now riding a 3 game losing streak and apparently you missed secnow going on and on last night about how ark is not playing good bball. not sure why you're arguing this. lsu caught a break. not a big deal.

I think it's still a little early to talk about LSU being a tournament team but we'll see. The SEC is pretty damn deep this year.

Agreed, a long way to go.....good win last night nevertheless.
