Reading up for the FL starter for game 2. His stuff sounds pretty good. Anyone with more baseball knowledge want to share some analysis?

He's a got some pretty good stuff. The question isn't if he's good, the question is how long can he be good. I'd compare him to Bush actually. Second time through the lineup we should be jumping all over him.

A freshman, I believe. Jump on him early and get into their pen quick.

He is a bullpen arm, kinda similar situation to Reynolds starting for us yesterday. Should be a game that we should take advantage of and get to game 3 to see Lange pitch against Kowar/Faedo in the winner take all matchup

With a fastball that tops out around 98 mph, a hooking slider that darts in on lefties and away from righties, and a developing command of his changeup, Dyson has all the physical tools to dominate. And what he lacks in College World Series experience — Dyson has faced only four batters this CWS and hasn’t thrown in a week — he makes up for with recent success and experience versus his Tuesday night opponent.

Dyson threw 2 innings in two outings versus LSU back in March, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. One week after the LSU outings, Dyson threw his start versus Florida State, allowing 3 runs in 1.2 innings. But since then, the freshman has been light’s out.

Across 12 appearances since his April start, Dyson has thrown 19.2 innings, allowing 6 earned runs for an ERA of 2.75. That includes the five shutout innings he threw versus Wake Forest in the super regionals. Dyson struck out 7 batters that day while allowing only 2 hits and no walks.

For O’Sullivan, the most impressive part might’ve been how comfortable he looked doing it.

“He threw five innings against Wake Forest in the super regional and it looked like he could’ve gone two or three [more],” O’Sullivan said. “It’s a different stage for him. But I know he’s excited. And Wake Forest had a really good hitting club. You guys will see, he’s very talented.”

Good stuff but he's a freshman and has only pitched more than 2 innings one time

He will walk the first two ( as long as KR does go out first pitch hacking )

Dyson is a very talented pitcher who will throw hard and will throw strikes. He has 45 K's this year in only 33 innings while only throwing 8 BB's. But we still will need to work the count and not go up there first pitch swinging (Kramer) so we can get his pitch count up. His longest outing is 5 IP, but i think he can go longer. We have to get to their bullpen before they hand the ball to Byrne, who i dont think can go any longer than 2IPs (if that).

Were hunting fastballs. If he's in the zone we are swinging.

With Faedo, Singer, and Kowar how much could anyone expect him to throw? He'll be in the weekend rotation next year. He threw 5 scoreless with 2 hits and 7 SO's against a very powerful Wake lineup in the Supers.

He pitched a very good game against Wake in supers. Good fastball mid 90s. Work the counts and he could be out by the 4th.

He shut down Wake Forrest bats for 5 innings.

But LSU's bats prefer pitchers that throw hard compared to offspeed pitchers.

Sure. Doesn't make my statement incorrect, though. He is a freshman that has not pitched much this year. He could come out and throw great or completely fold under pressure. No one will know until tonight.

23 games and 33 IP.
45/8 K/BB ratio

Basically a 1-2 inning closer. I'm betting his stuff starts to fade after 2-3 innings.
