Um. AJ made the early versions of JJ and JL look like potential all Americans. Pahleez

Oh for fricks sake. It's like you didn't even watch the games.

His pocket awareness was literally embarrassing. He avoided sacks by basically giving up the second he didn't see his first guy open and throwing it into the seats.

I guess now we get to endure people spending the entire off-season pretending AJ wasn't the worst long term LSU starter in at least three decades and arguably the worst season long starter in major college football last year.

Good Lord.

I think he can be very good.

No offense to the young man as a person, but he is a truly terrible QB. I think we've seen the extent of his abilities. Even when he plays his best, he's still below average to poor when compared to other QBs in the SEC. I think we've wasted enough time on the Jennings experiment. If he "wins" the starting job for the 2015 season, I expect the offense to struggle much like it did this past season.

Honestly, I just don't know at this point if Jennings can improve.

Last year, at the beginning of spring practice, Jennings couldn't even connect on a simple inside slant.

Fast forward through all of spring practice, the spring game, fall camp, and essentially all of the regular season, and we arrive at the Texas A&M game.

The call? A simple inside slant. This was the result.

I guess Cam wasn't bullshitting with that 50's football threat.

He really wasn't.

Until we can throw a slant, we ain't gonna throw another route, I promise you. We're gonna be the simplest - hey, I tell you what, here's what we'll run - 1950s football, alright? Until we can do this. We'll run one route the whole year.

Dude just looked up stats. No consideration for the team he played on or the era of football. I doubt he saw Howard pay a down.

He is saying that AJ doesn't have what it takes TO develop

That sounds a lot like the extreme claims many on the Rant were making in 08 and 09 bout JL.

Truth is, none of know what teenage QBs can mature into as their time in the program grows.

I really don't understand the need to pretend we have it all figured out, but each to our own.

I would take Howard in a heart beat over Jennings

ETA: as in, 42 year old Howard.

Dude played on some of the worst LSU football team most adult LSU fans are even capable of remembering.

If AJ had been on those teams, they might've been winless!!!

Someone citing Howard as being worse than AJ has outed themselves as not knowing a fricking thing about football other than what the can pull up on sportsreference.com.

AJ < JJ

but still has potential to be a better JL. His physical talent is better. Remember how bad JL was his first few years then he blossomed his senior year. Lot of similarities there but with the added diminsion of being able to run the ball.

You said the worst QB in three decades, that pretty much suggests that the "era" is immaterial. Your wanting to base Jennings's entire career and entire potential on a one-year window is pretty short-sided. Jamie Howard showed tremendous growth from 1992-95 despite playing like shite on a shite team. But if you want to look at only one year, he had a worse one than Jennings.

But for fun, lets throw some other names out there

Chad Loupe
Josh Booty
Marcus Randall
Andrew Hatch

Jennings is a damn true sophomore with 2 years left to play. He's not as bad as he's portrayed nor as clueless.
