Cannon trained at Alvin Roy’s during junior high and high school. May not have been state of the art. But, he was way ahead of his time with his training.
Weight training, especially training specifically for explosiveness, has completely transformed since then.
And as also mentioned, the equipment, nutrition, etc. is all completely different. These guys had no nutrition plans and smoked. It's two different worlds of training.

Cannon...Leonard Fournette fast at least.. = 10.4 - 10.6 100 Meters

I disagree. There are now athletes even stronger and faster than Billy. But Billy would absolutely still be a stud today as well If he is saying people cant dominate across sports anymore, I would agree
i took it to mean that Billy was just that much better than everyone else and that the gap between the top guy and the rest of the field just isn’t as big as it was back then.

I'm going to say no. The pool of athletes in the 50's is nowhere near what it is in modern day football.
Ok. Which of his measurables --- height, weight, speed, etc --- make you think he could not compete with today's athletes? Maybe not everyone from the 50s could compete with today's athletes --- linemen were certainly much smaller --- but to dismiss the possibility out of hand is foolish.
Somewhere out there, I do not have it and do not feel like looking, Google is your friend, is a picture of Tommy Casanova with today's secondary. He is bigger than most of the other guys in the picture.

9.5 100. Lots of 9.6s in sec track meets
Styron bros were just track, ran 9.4 at the time.
As I recall he ran the 9.5 at sulphur. Lighter.

No it wasn't 9.2
No one did 9.2 until 1962.

Bullet Bob, and Cannon’s best time was within .2 seconds of the fastest man in the world
ETA: but no, he probably couldn’t hang today

Billy Cannon = present day Alvin Kamara

My grandaddy used to talk about this race against one of the famous (at the time)Styren twins from NLU. They were world class in the 100 and 220.

I can't tell if you're being serious.
But if you are, Kamara is shorter and a lot shiftier I think. I think Cannon compares to Fournette honestly, but a little lighter. With modern nutrition and training I bet Cannon would be 220ish.

Wasn’t that abou Jr’s size?
Posted on 5/22/18 at 1:44 pm to 777Tiger
He was bigger. I think Jr was like 6'3" 230 or something.
Big boy.

In high school, he ran 9.4 in the 100 yard dash.

One of the few players to earn all-pro at 2 different positions

Kamara 5'10"
