That loss is over, but the underlying issue of having an unqualified head coach is still in place and that's what's not to like about LSU football currently.

No I don't expect them to lose to SLU or Tech, but I didn't expect them lose to Troy, have trouble with Syracuse or kick a FG from the 1 in an exhibition game either.

Not one of those kids that actually have to play gets payed 3 mil. You do realize the players have to play regardless of the coach right? Let’s let the coaches play scrabble for the W from now on, the players can just watch. Bich please

And when did I criticize a player? Wtf are you talking about?

The players couldn't have done much worse in those losses if the coaches had played scrabble.

Let’s not overlook LA Tech this year. The GD USL fans here are bad enough. Imagine Tech fans if they beat us.

Good point. They are similar to Troy, IMHO. A capable second tier opponent with a history of playing LSU close (c.f. 2009).

Basically, we are talking all about potential on offense becasue there's no experience and that's a lot of moving pieces that have to come together.

truth. This offense has the pieces and parts to be great if everything comes together or it could be flat out shite. So much that has to come together and quickly.

Going to have unproven inexperienced QB's, RB's and WR's and a O-line that may have 4 sophmores starting in Deculus, Ingram, Charles, and Cushenberry combined with new faces like Traore and Lewis. TE is the only position I can think of offhand that has an experienced upper classman starter returning in Moreau (Also Brumfield at guard fits in that category).

So you combine that with a new OC installing a brand new offense that he and none of the other coaches have ever run before. Not to mention a brand new O-line coach.

All of this to be overseen and run by a controversial HC in Ed Orgeron. With little head coach experience and what little he did have did not turn out very well, combined with a couple of uninspiring semi-successful (to put it kindly) stints as an interim HC.

Sept 2 is going to get here quickly and we aren't starting against a cupcake either.

So many moving parts. What could possibly go wrong?

On the other hand, I liked what Ensminger did with the offense when he was the interim OC and I love the type offense that he currently seems to be installing. Also the new OL coach seems to be a solid addition. Also like what I am hearing about the WR advisor(?) Sullivan. I think the offense is in capable hands.

And then on paper and in theory their seems to be a whole lot of players with a lot of potential and talent on offense:
Players like Narcisse (known to be a big strong, strong armed, and fast QB) combined with Brennan (known to be a tall, accurate, quick thinking QB) that in theory are just what we need at QB. Both talented and bringing different strengths to the position, making it harder to game plan against.

They will be throwing to what appears to be a very deep pool of highly talented WR's. Players like Giles, Marshall, and McMath to name a few among many. Some tall and strong, and others fast decisive route runners.

Also a TE in Moreau who can do it all and could very well have a break out year that moves him up the draft board. Add in a RB who fits the offense perfectly in Clyde Helaire and who is dangerous catching the ball out of the backfield and is a strong elusive runner. A lead blocker who will knock the crap out of defenders and can catch the ball also in Tory Carter.

In front of all this we have some young, but now experienced, o-lineman who were thrown into the fire as true freshman and not only survived, but by the end of the season, thrived. A couple of big JUCOs transfers who are the real deal and Brumfield. Also a handful of big talented backups, like Campbell, Savage, and Magee who will be pushing them hard.

So is it possible that all this can come together by September 2nd and be clicking like clockwork and steam roll Miami? Anything is possible. Is it likely? (I decline to answer that question). Remember the 'miracle on ice' when the USA hockey team beat the Russians. Miracles happen. This is LSU by God. One heartbeat!

Remember the Titans! the next one is going to be called: 'Remember the Tigers!' the story of the 2018 LSU Tigers football team which will be written before our very eyes in the months to come.

10 because I love LSU football! The team is stacked as usual and we have a few new faces on the coaching side that can really change it up. As long as we are rakeing in super talented kids the program will be in good shape. I've got more faith than most on here that coach O can make this happen.

“ I like what in Ensminger did with the offense when he was interim OC “

What Did you see? We had a whole lot of talent last yr, but that didn’t stop a much, much less talented team from embarrassing us on Home Coming night.

After the disappointment of last season, Coach O has a lot of proving to do before I expect anything “clockwork” from LSU football.

Meh, Miami in Arlington, no problem.

Look at 1989: Tigers started out w/ TWO cupcakes: @ A&M (finished 8-4 #20 AP) and vs. Florida St (10-2 #3 AP).

When your expectations for next year references "miracles" in other sports, maybe you are out a bit over the skis.
Championship teams know it and can point to the reasons they expect to be champions without luck or divine intervention.
we will have an excellent defense, thin at cb, and will very good, inexperienced athletes elsewhere. Eight wins is about the best I can see...

I used to like to come to the Rant to feed my excitement level during the off-season. However,
I rarely come here any more because there is no more football talk. Now it is just a bunch of little bitches coming here to squash anything spoken positively about the LSU football program. It is one thing to actually rant. It is quite another thing to be a negative prick about everything for a year and a half.

I wasn’t and am not a fan of the Coach O hire, but I want him to do well because that means LSU will be doing well. Those on here wishing him to fail are wishing for LSU to fail also. That is something that I will never understand or support.

I don't understand where this "wanting him to fail" idea comes from. Sure, there are a couple nutjobs that say "I hope he loses every game so he gets fired", but some people act like that's the majority or something.

He ran up the score on schools that didn't have the same caliber of athletes that we have, and against those that did he did nothing.

That's pretty much what I expect this year, huge numbers against the G5 and FCS schools, and not much vs the big boys. They'll inflate the numbers to fool the gullible into thinking we have a prolific offense.
