The Bama record for 2007 was 2-6 as Bama vacated 5 games.

Bama was 50-12 coming into this season.

The school may have had some vacated wins in 2007, but apparently they still count as wins for Saban's record as Head Coach.

Yeah we need perspective every waking fricking moment. I give the credit for LSU's wins to the players, the assistants, the money the athletic program allows to be paid towards our assistants, the fan base and Les Miles. Stop acting like Les miles is solely responsible for every win LSU has ever had during his time at LSU.

only statistically the best coaching record in LSU history...

I'm a Les Miles fan because of the man and guy he is and how he relates to the young men at LSU and that he allows his assistant coaches to coach with one exception. The way he inserts himself into the offensive scheme and play calling. We've had Jimbo Fisher, Crowton, Kragthorpe, & Stud, and without question Les's fingerprints are all over stifling these guys from what they want to do so that they run the "Les" Big Ten offense of line up and run at you and dominate you at the line of scrimmage. Don't get me wrong, I love it when it works, and it's worked over 80% of the time but against a Muschamp/Saban type defense it doesn't and until we can win against those guys by adjusting our approach we will not get the big prized we are physically capable of getting. I totally blame our scheme for the red zone ineptness and lack of offensive production the last few SEC games. If Les doesn't adjust, we are not going to beat Bama.

I have to disagree with this. Miles "approach" has worked just fine against Saban/Muschamp defenses when things are clicking. (you do remember we beat them both of them just last year right?)

I think you may be falling into the trap a lot of casual fans fall into by not looking deep enough into the secret of Miles success. Miles greatest strength, is building a team on the most visceral of levels. He recruits great athletes and makes them tougher, meaner, more competitive and fiercer than everyone else. This is a gift not many coaches have. He is a charismatic leader and he knows how to keep his team focused and loose. THESE are the traits he has that are superior to most other coaches.

Now some other coaches are maybe better at the X's and O's or at game/clock management or at building offenses. I'm willing to concede that Spurrier for instance is much better at building an offense and calling plays than CLM. Probably better at clock management too. So how many times has Spurrier beaten Miles?

People that don't truly understand the game always underestimate how important it is to be good at the things that Miles is good at. Yes he has short comings, as do all coaches, but his strengths are what seperates him from the rest...and those strengths are all but invisible to the average rantard.

People tend to "overrate" things like clock management and playcalling acumen. Football is a "hurt business" at the end of the day and is THE BEST thing to be good at. If clock management and offensive acumen is so important and Miles is so "bad at it" according to many on here...then what explains all these wins? Perhaps those things aren't as important to winning football games as you think. Perception is everything and most only do surface level appraisals of coaches and teams. Like most things in life the real truth usually lies a little deeper.

Miles hires great asst coaches. He is not afraid he is gone to be over shadow by who he hires. He is a perfect CEO type of coach.

Amen! Miles, as all coaches, has a few faults.....but he builds a damn strong football team. His "control" of the game Saturday against USCe was masterful! I'm glad he's a Tiger and we don't have to play against him.

Bingo, expert57!

At LSU, Miles has been successful against the very best coaches in the country.

Other than Coach Miles, the others at the very top are Saban and Meyer. Les is 3-3 against them both.

He's also 2-2 against Richt and 3-0 against Spurrier.

Additionally, Miles is 1-0 against Frank Beamer (VA Tech), Chip Kelly (Oregon) and Dana Holgorson (W VA).

There is no denying that we have one of the top 3 coaches in the country, and personally, I would not trade Les Miles for either of the other two, Saban or Meyer.

Coach Miles is terrific guy and a man of the highest integrity. He loves his players and has a wonderful knack for motivating them and graduating them. And, he wins and represents LSU as well as anyone possibly could.

No doubt we need to get more consistently excellent on offense. But I'm pretty sure Miles is as anxious as we are to make that happen, and I bet he takes the step after this season to recruit an OC who can match the success of our DC.
Miles thought he did that with Krag, but stuff happens sometimes that is beyond human control.

I fully believe we have the very best man in America to coach at LSU.

At least while Les Miles keeps us competing within the top echelon in the country, it sure would be nice if Tiger fans showed him a lot more appreciation for all that he brings to LSU and a lot less grief whenever his team doesn't perform like it's coached by Little Nickie, the miserable narcissist.

I think if you look at LSU from season to season, game to game, and play to play there are certainly many areas you could say LSU could have done better.

This could be said of every single program in the NCAA

I would love to have offensive woes like last night, where the team gains only about 400 yards of total offense against a top 10 nationally defense.

What a bunch of horse shite.

Can someone post how large the coaching staffs are including assistants and TA's or anyone affiliated with the program who coaches players.

Bama seems to have as many not classified as coaches as those that are.

Les Miles and Nick Saban would be statistically tied at the top, with winning percentages of 82%, and Miles would have a 4-2 record against Saban.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda...This is my point exactly. Thanks for making it. CLM is second to Saban. If this does not gnaw at all Tiger fans then nothing will. These are the claims that those satisfied with second place will make.

Just fyi.....He's doing something a LOAD of coaches at LSU could never do.

He deserves the credit

One game, albeit a huge one, is the only difference right now.

Why does Miles have to be continually compared to Saban, is that fair to him?

Compare him to everyone else if you want to be #1

Ahhhh, yes. Because we all know how Saban's successors at Michigan State and the Miami Dolphins fared.....

I fail to see how Miles' success in his first three years is because of of Nick Saban. Miles still had to coach players he did """"""NOT"""""
recruit, and BTW, most of those that Miles "inherited" from Saban never got off the bench in the Saban era.
In fact 11 of the 22 starters in the '08 BCSCG victory over Ohio State were """""MILES"""""
recruits.
Lastly, Saban has been gone from Baton Rouge for SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS. When are idiots and morons like yourself going to stop embarrassing themselves with these stupid comments ??????

Miles took Sabans '04 team to the SECCG in '05. and if it weren't for Katrina could've likely had an undefeated season

It is the reality of LSU football right now. Pretending it does not exist changes nothing.
