We have a head coach with no vision, no long term plan, and no foresight to anticipate things. He coaches 'off the cuff', is reactionary, and has a rigid belief system.

Don't forget the bluechip kid that went to MLB.

Ryan Perrilloux is the reason for LSU being stuck with no quarterback..!!!

They let the program get into that debacle b/c they made excuses. Bottom line. Whether it was Perriloux, Zach Lee, the OC, the QB coach developing them poorly, Shep not panning out, etc. its all excuses. When someone in the real world starts giving me excuse after excuse after excuse of why something's not done right or on time it becomes evident that excuses have become too easy for them. It's too easy for them to throw their hands up and focus on why they have a problem instead of finding a solution.

JL was imo. He was one of the highest rated qb's out of texas. Wasn't he one of the players on the cover of sports mag (issustrated maybe?

Exactly how I felt about the Saints with Brooks. Why did Haslett not see what everyone else saw?
This!
As a Saints fan, I felt the pain from 2002 all over again with Miles/JJ. In 2002 the Saints were the best team in the NFL (beat the Bucs twice in their super bowl year), but Brooks got hurt and physically couldnt throw a pass beyond 5 yards. Delhomme rotted on the bench while the Saints lost their last few games against bad teams. Haslett squandered a Super Bowl caliber team due to strange loyalty to Brooks.

Don't forget that he is lazy, hates white QBs, and hates LSU.

We went a couple years after the RP experiment without making sure to sign a QB. All we had left were JL/JJ. The past few years, we have made sure to have signed at least one QB in each class.

If RP had stayed Lee would have had more time to develop. If he hadnt been thrown into the fire so early on I think he would have been a good QB.
Still, a RS freshman and true freshman should have never been our back up plan at QB in the first place.

How does an elite program not make a bowl game?

How does an elite program get ranked in the top 25 preseason ever year and not finish in the top 25?
How does an elite program...

Shep not panning out
I really wonder if Shep even got a real chance to compete at QB. For him to never throw a pass is amazing considering he was the #1 rated dual threat qb. I wonder what Chip Kelly or Rich Rod couldve done with him.

this just in, boosters and other hangers on will cheat.

They lost to ULM in a down year the week after a tough, close lose to their new coaches old team. Utah was undefeated and finished #2, are you suggesting an "elite" program should not lose to a top 5 team because of the name on that teams jersey?
How do so many stupid people learn on the use a computer?

I think the problem was the shep/ garrett class did not produce a qb. that person would have been a third year qb the same as mccarron. a second year qb named zach lee would not have won us a nc. we almost got into the same shite again this year with miles insistence on dual threat qb and baseball qb neither of who would have played a down at qb. just bet a reasonable mobile pro style qb like mf.

You have to factor in Zach Lee as well
LSU put all their eggs in his basket and he bolted to MLB

Ryan Perrilloux flat screwed us over for 2008, but not for 2009. Either Perrilloux was going to start in 2009 or 1 of the 2 SOPHOMORES from JJ/JL would, which is not terrible looking at it from an early perspective.
I see a couple huge problems looking back...
1. Ryan Perrilloux getting kicked off, this one is more obvious than anything.
2. JJ/JL were shoved into action too early, but we had to in 2008. No RP meant it was either them as freshmen or Andrew Hatch a walk on (Who eventually got hurt)
3. Gary Crowton was the worst thing for our QBs than anything. Yes JJ/JL aren't the greatest talents, but Krags got the most out of them this year...Crowton got pure dogshit out of them.
4. Flat out misses at QB or not recruiting a QB during this time-frame. We lost Darron Thomas in 2008 because he didn't want to compete with another QB coming in (Jordan Jefferson ). In 2009 Russell Shepard came in a quick bust at QB and Chris Garrett a quick flameout; we totally missed on QBs this class. In 2010 we take a big risk signing only Zach Lee and we paid for it, he leaves for MLB. We wanted Cam Newton so bad because he was the only JUCO QB worth taking in this time frame from 2009-2010, but we missed. In 2011 of course we sign 3 QBs, but 2 are freshmen who obviously wouldn't take over for 2 seniors in JJ/JL. 1 Is Zach Mettenber who apparently, despite his huge talent, couldn't take over in fall camp.
A combination of those 4 things set us back at QB for JJ/JL's tenure.

Poor talent evaluation
Yeah, CLM and staff are poor talent evaluators.

The ignorance on this board this week is sky high.
A lot of 'elite' programs go through QB issues. Look at Florida right now.
