Walter Clayton Jr's production picked up once he got in the SEC. Elijah Martin came from FAU to Florida and was HUGE in Florida winning it all. There is no exact science to seeing if guys translate so we'll see if the guys LSU brought in translate but complaining and whining about every move the basketball program makes is childish. I would have been happy to see CMM fired this year but he wasn't. So I'll root for him this year knowing that if he fails he's fired. If he gets to the tourney and has a good year we can all be happy. If he doesn't and he's fired we can look to the future.

Are we losing because he is stuck on mid majors?

I opened this thread hoping to have sme good discussion about how we think the basketball team is shaping up and if we think it will lead to better results but alas, I was mistaken.

Will they be able to compete in the mighty SEC? I think it’s a good start, but they need a little bit more. That being said, we won’t stop until the McMarathon is won!

Compete? Probably on talent, at least. Penny Hardaway did this at Memphis and went 2-2 vs SEC teams (Beat Mizzou and OM, lost to State and Auburn) and had one of the best OOC schedules considering the strength of that part of their schedule. There is a ceiling to where living off the portal will get you, but you can build an NCAA Tournament-quality team this way.

It’s all about finding the right mix of guys who will gell into a team and complement each other. The issue is I don’t think we can trust McMahon to assemble the right pieces, or coach them well.
