I see Tenn and Missouri is this primetime game on SECN.

Could our admin have pushed for a nighttime kickoff or is this some rule like the old JPSN rules where every team had to have the early kickoff slot at least once a year?

Didn't Alleva say fighting for night games would be a priority?

Sorry if already discussed

ESPN probably has a pick of game before the SEC network. SECN gets the leftvover games.

Evidently watching the SJW's whoop Lyle in his last game as a Vol has appeal. Watching for Gruden sightings...

But ESPN owns SECN?

It seems like getting a better primetime draw would be more appealing on whichever ESPN network airs it.

ESPN pays the SEC over a billion dollars for the rights to televise games. We have no control over what time the game is played. In most cases, the better teams get better time slots. I assume they decide this by predicted TV ratings.

This game was the fourth “pick” of the day. ESPN considers the 11 am slot better than any of the 6 pm games on SEC network, ESPNU, etc. Same reason Bama is playing at 11 next weekend, they are looking for a game to go up against the Big 10/12 games on ABC and FOX

In a letter to Tiger fans posted on LSU athletics’ official website, Alleva wrote that after initiating conversations with SEC commissioner Mike Slive, he had “developed an understanding that CBS, ESPN and all its platforms will recognize the importance of LSU home night games in their scheduling process with assurances that every effort will be made to maximize the number of LSU home games at night.”

Yes they could have. And they did. Just didn’t happen-no one’s fault.

2.5 i believe. ESPN doesn’t give a flying frick about our whiny fanbase wanting a different kickoff time, all it wants is the game to rate, and it will.

Thousands of prime seats now on sale less than 30 a ticket. SEZ lower now 25 a ticket. Upper deck less than 10 dollars.

Not only has it been discussed ad nauseum, but Alleva has already detailed the steps he took trying to keep this particular game from being moved to the morning. He tried hard.

TV doesn't give a frick. They don't give two shits about our preferences.

Cool, is there a link for where that was discussed

I mean, I get when CBS chooses a game there is nothing to be done about it. But ESPN easily could have swapped this among their own networks. Neither of these matchups are particularly appealing to widespread audiences outside of the four fan bases directly involved.

Seems like a pretty perfect week for “respect for tradition” to win out when there isn’t much of a ratings benefit either way.
