There is an obvious talent gap between LSU & Bama. How did recruiting dip under Miles?

O was the recruiting coordinator the last few years of Miles.

Serious question. If you played any offensive position, would you have LSU in your top 3 at any point since 2013?

Alabama has had a talent edge on everyone since 2010. That’s why they’ve been favored in every game since then, with the exception of the game at Georgia a few years ago in which they opened as a small underdog, closed as the favorite, and then proceeded to whip their arse.

It wasn’t until recently that people started saying we need years to close the gap.

Don't underestimate the exodus to the NFL...hard, if not impossible, to develop depth

Considering the success the WR and RB have had in the NFL sure.

To answer the OP, it’s combination of things.
1 being it didn’t slip nearly as much as O fans want to make us believe
2 the talent in state, especially at spots we’re worried about like DL were not as good in state in recent years as years past.
3 The Saban factor. Bama’s the top program, he’s the best recruiter there is and hired guys with La ties plus his own ties to recruit here, he’s cherry pick guys plus made Les and Co work much harder just to keep guys, look how much effort it took to keep Fournette it was like a win for Saban, he didn’t need him and we had to put so much energy in it.
4 Miles staff was slipping whether evaluations or poor recruiting (Chavis) they weren’t quite as good

Miles focused on skill players not linemen. Also, LSU loses to many underclassmen to the nfl. Even those who should come back leave early and that has been the biggest problem.

At the end miles era most of our class was dbs and wrs. No oline or dline to match Bama.

Recruiting didn’t dip under Miles.

The offense isn’t being coached well enough.

Dylan Moses was a Miles guy.

Orgeron couldn't keep him.

Miles was better in every way you can measure over Orgeron.

Every single way.

Not saying Miles time wasn't up but you were better off keeping Miles over Orgeron.
