For those who watched, did he look rusty?

He pitches a lot like Walker did as a freshman, with better velo. He has nice arm-side run on his 2-seamer and changes speeds effectively. He and Marceaux are going to have to pitch to contact early on but I think both will provide more swing-and-miss stuff once they kind of get back into the rhythm of the season.

His control & movement are very good. He gets a lot of weak ground balls & fly balls.

He's a very good pitcher, but needs to make hitters swing & miss more to take it to the next level.

He looked a lot better than Marceaux. Marceaux wasn't hitting his spots like Labas. If it's anything like their past starts, Labas is very steady/solid & Marceaux is more streaky with great outings...also some bad ones. jmo.

How many innings did he pitch and who gave up the runs?

4.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits. 4 strikeouts.

I can't find the box score, but I think a reliever came in & let 2 of those runs in.

Gio also completely misplayed a ball in CF & gave up a triple. Labas looked very good despite a shitty stat line. His defense didn't really do him any favors.

In his defense, that ball looked like one of my drives off the tee. It started with a fade to it then came back hard to the left.

The Kid has really good stuff. Nothing he throws is straight. The big questions after this weekend are 1) How Long before Hill is ready to get into the Rotation and 2) How long a leash does Marceaux have? Kid appears to have talent but cant seem to put it together consistently?

Gio had bad first move but that ball was drilled and was going for extra bases either way. Made a nice catch against wall later in the game.

I’d like to keep Hill in relief.

Well, he'd step up onto the mound and then he'd look in to the catcher to get the signal. Sometimes he liked what he saw and would shake his head until the catcher gave him a signal he liked. Then he'd kinda put his foot on the rubber and then his hand in his glove. I believe he was gripping the ball in there, but I couldn't see because of the glove. Then he'd kind of stand up, rear back and throw the ball at the spot in front of the batter. Then, he'd do it all over until at some point, they'd run off the field and the other team would run on the field.

He did all of that really well this afternoon. He'll be good once he settles into his role on this staff.

Marceaux was lacking command and velocity on his fast ball. His change up was fantastic but struggled with his fastball.
He will be fine.

Gio also struggled at the plate. CPM seems to be trying to get Hampton in there as fast as he can. I think the outfield gets a lot better as a whole as soon as Hampton can handle center full time.

Marceaux had a 2.88 era last year in his last 7 games coming off of the injury and was our best pitcher at the end of the year. He was the only pitcher out of all 3 to actually make it to the 5th inning. Through 4 innings he gave up 4 hits, Henry gave up 3. At the same time Marceaux didn't have great command of his fastball. His change up and new slider /slurve looked fantastic.
He had a rough 5th inning.
Where do you people come from?

Labas pitched well. Hit a lot of corners but the ump had a very small strike zone.

Hats off to Indiana starter as well. He pitched really well.
