How did it get so twisted?

Lane and AD Keith Carter both confirmed that Lane wanted to coach the playoffs but the AD wouldn’t let him
Why is every national media member except Saban saying “Lane left his team! What a horrible human! The poor players!!”
It’s literally their AD’s fault. It’s such BS

Was watching the NFL games today with my buddy who is not from Louisiana, and he was heavily shite talking Kiffin and the way he “handled the situation”
That was, until I told him that Kiffin wanted to coach the playoffs through, LSU was going to allow it, and Ole Miss told him to get fricked. When I told him that, he said “well I didn’t know that. That’s good context to have”

I’m glad he is our coach. But he is our coach because he left his team by taking another job.

He didn’t leave his team. He wanted to finish the season and then leave for a job promotion. And they basically fired him. This is the kind of shite I’m talking about. Tulane is letting Jon finish the season and then he’s going to Florida. Keith Carter didn’t allow Lane to do the same thing but Lane is the bad guy

He left to go to an in conference rival . No school or AD in OMs situation would let him coach. It’s okay to be honest about it.
If LSU is in the playoffs next year but Lane decides to leave and go to Bama before conf championship weekend , will lsu let lane coach in the playoffs ? Obviously no.

Then why’d they let him coach the egg bowl? It was pure sour grapes by their AD and he made an emotional decision. Lane is gonna take players from that team to come to LSU whether he coached the playoffs or not. Now they don’t have the best offensive coach in the country going into the only playoffs they will ever be in because their AD is a bitch. It’s stupid

I gotta believe that the big shot money bag folks were so butt hurt , they were the ones that told the AD to kick CLK to the road .

Good hype is expensive, hate is free. I personally like the hate and think we all could use some more. It goes down well with all the salt.

The AD absolutely made the right decision to not let him coach through the playoffs. Do yall REALLY think the fan base would have stood for Kiffin coaching a home playoff game after accepting the LSU job? He would have been boo’d unmercifully and it would have been a huge distraction for the team.
Obviously LSU was fine with letting him coach through the playoffs - it would be great PR for y’all (didn’t Verge even come out and say that)?
If Kiffin were still in Oxford, he would be actively trolling the OM fan base (as he was before he accepted the job) from within the OM facilities. If he couldn’t handle the double duties being Alabama’s OC and FAU’s HC what makes you think he could have handled being HC of OM and LSU? Honestly, if Kiffin were someone like Jon Sumrall maybe OM lets him continue, but Kiffin is Kiffin and you can’t let someone like that continue.
I fault Keith for making Golding the permanent HC, but I understand the reasoning. It has calmed everything down for the playoffs, but it feels like you’re tanking next year for two games of playoffs.

Ole Miss will never make another playoff. They should’ve known with and let the man who got them here finish the season and try to win a championship. Then not allowing him to coach proves to me that they don’t care about championships

Listen - normally I’d agree, because it makes sense, but would you really let the same coach who publicly sent his family to rival schools looking at homes and publicly trolled the school whose given him everything the past six years an opportunity to continue coaching?
Again, the fanbase would have revolted. A golf ball and mustard bottle would have been the least of Kiffins concerns if he were allowed on the field against Tulane.
Everyone is acting like Kiffin didn’t do all of the trolling and that he handled all of this really good. He handled it about as bad as you possibly could.
Hell, I’m brining up the fan base, I bet the players would have revolted as well. Everyone was tired of his shite.

Also, Ole Miss quickly made it clear than Kiffin would not continue to coach the Rebels in the playoffs.

This, FFS.
I’m surprised so many people don’t understand it just the media doing media things. Did we expect integrity from espn, sports media, etc?

He left to go to an in conference riva
Now that that’s settled, Ole Miss has to make a decision. Are you trying to win football games, or save face. They chose emotion and optics. Last I checked, the school Kiffin went to has zero effect on the actual game.

To be fair, if that happens, I won't say he gave up on the team.

What did he really do, other than his family going to Gainesville and Baton Rouge? I feel like most of the drama was media and fan driven.
As for the city tours, it was immature for sure. But if they do the same thing under the radar and are caught, that looks bad too.
What do you realistically do?

I would let him Coach! Why? Because he gives them the best chance of winning…That's why!!!
Even with Kiffin on the way to a hated rival it would be good for Ole Miss to win a NC…it may be (probably will be)the only chance they get for another 60 plus years!
