I think that was game Clausen started.
Saban and Fisher running the qb draw up big in Fla game and Mauck gets hurt, that's how

Marcus Randall started. Clausen played in the 4th Qtr.

2002 after Mauck went down to injury Saban got pissy when confronted by media over his status.

LSU would have probably appeared in the SECCG that year and even won the SEC had he not gone down to injury against Florida.

HOWBOUTDEMTIGAHS, thanks for clearing that up for me. My dream (I should say, nightmare) about Shaun Alexander was only off by about 6 years, but it has made for some lively discussion about early onset Alzheimers. Thank you.

Wasn't this the game where they couldn't stop the draw play to save their life?

That could have been the 2000 game, though.

The real answer is that we couldn't defend the draw play all night. Just before half time, if I recall correctly, Bama went approximately ninety yards for a TD almost exclusively on draw plays.

It was also the game when Franchione was livid because of a fake Saban lockerroom speech written by the relatives of certain Tiger Lair posters which was propogated on the Internet during the week preceeding kickoff.

Am I crazy, or did somebody fake some trash talk from Saban that got Bama fired up?

I think it was somebody on Tiger Lair that posted something? I remember that too.

It was so miserable cold that night. That terrible game only made it worse

I remember the cold, but I think the problem was that it was nice that day but clear. It was 43 at kickoff and dropped into the 30s by the end of the game. Not the coldest LSU game I ever attended, but we were comfortable in jeans and t-shirt at mid-day, then it got progressively worse.

The game made it even worse - last time I ever heard the "Rammer Jammer" cheer.

With all this Shaun Alexander talk of being the RB in this game, I'm beginning to doubt it was even cold at the game and that it was a mild Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. Since no one can remember who the RB was.

It was cold. Check my posts about the game. People think Rick Clausen started.

Unbelievable.

The inimitable Mr. Fumbles, worst QB in the modern era of LSU football. During the third or fourth quarter of that 2002 Bama game, when we were still within striking distance, Saban called a successful fake punt which put us relatively deep in Bama's territory. On the very next play, Randall coughed up the ball. Game over.
